I work in industrial ceramics manufacturing. My plant also produces cast iron and glass.

Without well-managed air filtration and access to NIOSH approved respirators and dust masks, workers like me will be at increased risk of lung conditions like silicosis & mesothelioma, and other organ damage.

In the pre-information age what we got came through as a trickle. Now it's a firehose but the water isn't safe to drink.

Having access to a wealth of information isn't useful if you don't possess the ability to process what it means.

This sounds nuts, but if you put a pinch of salt in your coffee it can help curb the bitterness a bit. I learned this a decade ago and it changed my life for the better.

I remember watching a documentary about Struzan's work. In it he talked about being completely engrossed in what the work, improving his craft by any means necessary even when he had no money.

I was never going to reach his level, but I found him inspiring. My heart aches to learn that he's gone.

I'm not, but only because ~40% of the stock market is in this slop and that's putting honest, hardworking people's retirement funds at risk.

My mom is 62 and already lost it big when the dotcom and housing bubbles burst. The AI bubble is going to leave her penniless and she doesn't even know it.
