There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Abolish ICE. I have a headache.

I work in industrial ceramics manufacturing. My plant also produces cast iron and glass.

Without well-managed air filtration and access to NIOSH approved respirators and dust masks, workers like me will be at increased risk of lung conditions like silicosis & mesothelioma, and other organ damage.
🚨 Trump’s HHS just gutted NIOSH—laying off 85% of staff and shuttering key science programs.
🧪 Cancer research for firefighters? Halted.
😷 Respirator safety testing? Ceased.
📉 Decades of public health and worker safety science in jeopardy.

Trump still has not followed a court order to release SNAP funds for millions of people.

Meanwhile, he hosted a "Great Gatsby" themed party at Mar-a-Lago this weekend.

And he posted seven times about renovating a White House bathroom with marble and gold.

Priorities.
Cold and callous, just like the man who ordered it be done.
In the pre-information age what we got came through as a trickle. Now it's a firehose but the water isn't safe to drink.

Having access to a wealth of information isn't useful if you don't possess the ability to process what it means.
It works with beer too. I order pints at the bar with a pickle spear in the glass for that reason, and bonus: I get a snack with my drink!

I truly don't give a damn about what people are buying with their food stamps. I don't care!! As long as people can eat, who cares????
This sounds nuts, but if you put a pinch of salt in your coffee it can help curb the bitterness a bit. I learned this a decade ago and it changed my life for the better.
Then you microwave it again and forget it once more.

Re-re-re-heated instant coffee is the story of my life, and it tastes like a mid-century diner that sits on a deserted highway.

GOP: I can't believe Dems are trying to stop us from taking away your healthcare. Just for that, no food for you.

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Here is what I believe in:

--Libraries. Free books? Great resources? Yes, please.
--Love. Always, always, always. It can move mountains. (Sometimes, that mountain is your own fear.)
--Not assuming the worst about people.
--Really listening.
--Do not harm, but take no shit.
--Pasta. Wine. Coffee.
They've got private billionaires paying military salaries amid the government shutdown. Trump basically has his own privatized army now.

All of his money is managed by his church. That's a huge red flag to me.
It's a genocide alright. TO INFECTIOUS DISEASES, YOU HACK.
I am not a paid advertiser. Sincerely: listen to The Devil You Know wherever you get your podcasts.

While you're at it listen to You're Wrong About, and listen to You Are Good (a feelings podcast about movies). Wonder in Sarah's wonderfulness.
I'm proud of Sarah Marshall and her myriad of projects.

The first episode of You're Wrong About is on the satanic panic. It's one of my comfort listens when I can't sleep at night. Now she hosts a whole podcast about the topic, and she did it with help from The CBC!
anyone else feel a weird sense of like, pride in the work of online creators you've been following / supporting via Patreon for a crazy long time

I've loved Red Letter Media's videos for more than a decade and yeah, I actually do feel proud when I think of what they've built and accomplished.
An internet stranger complimented my username today and it tickled my brain in ways I did not expect.
Like all ceasefires in the Palestine/Israel conflict, it was temporary. Extremely so, in this case.
It's easy to not hear or see things when you've stuck your fingers in your ears and squeezed your eyes shut.

AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.
Trump doesn't pay his debts. He is no king.
I remember watching a documentary about Struzan's work. In it he talked about being completely engrossed in what the work, improving his craft by any means necessary even when he had no money.

I was never going to reach his level, but I found him inspiring. My heart aches to learn that he's gone.
When you think of iconic movie posters, you think of his work. RIP Drew Struzan, you will always be the gold standard.

Tim Walz: "It's almost unimaginable that he's got Milei in there, giving him $20 billion, so that they can undercut us and China can buy their soybeans from them. And now China has learned they can replace our markets."
I'm not, but only because ~40% of the stock market is in this slop and that's putting honest, hardworking people's retirement funds at risk.

My mom is 62 and already lost it big when the dotcom and housing bubbles burst. The AI bubble is going to leave her penniless and she doesn't even know it.
