ultimately, I'm not influencing policy and I'll take what I can get, but if disaffected Americans under a capitalist system can do much for equality, LGBT+ rights, drug legalization, reducing censorship, etc. I think it goes without saying that these should be absolute standards of socialist liberty

the point I was (not very well) trying to make is that, ultimately, international socialism should come with the kinds of common ethics that centralized states with rigid cultural hangups tend to dislike, and centrality makes cascading socialist failure easier
