this is very kind of you! but also credit for No Kings really starts with the @50501movement.bsky.social and their No Kings on Presidents Days demonstrations in February!!!
Now that #NoKings 2.0 is behind us, here's a quick 🧵 into the data we collected in DC on Saturday to start thinking about what the day-of-action can tell us about this wave of Resistance to Trump2.0 and its policies. The day turned out millions across the US in over 2700 locations across the US:
Trump on No Kings: "It's a joke. I looked at the people. They are not representative of this country. And I looked at all the brand new signs I guess paid for by Soros and other radical left lunatics. We're checking it out. The demonstrations were very small. And the people were whacked out."
yeah it was a $16,682,587.00 buffet but it really felt like more of a $13,682,587.00 buffet
According to this chart going around MAGA circles, the No Kings demonstrations were funded with more than a quarter-billion dollars — but I’m unclear whether this is just for this weekend’s events or also for the one in June. Or, perhaps just numbers pulled out of thin air.
After adding new data to our spreadsheet, our central estimate of turnout for the No Kings Day protests yesterday has risen to 5.5 million, with an upper bound of 8.7 www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...
Second "No Kings Day" protests likely the largest single-day political demonstration since 1970, with 4.2-7.6 million participants
Here are the initial results from our crowdsourced crowd-counting estimates

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...
