He/him. I review manga and light novels, and also reblog a lot of US and UK politics. I also like dogs, cats, and Higurashi.

I’m very unhappy about the aggressive AI upscaling in the Beatles Anthology on Disney Plus. It’s added a whole extra Beatle! Who the fuck is “George”?

Incidentally, the bit in High Diving Hare where Bugs has installed a door on the diving board and Sam knocks and then says "You notice I didn't say Richard?" may be the most A History Of Rock Music In 500 Songs the Looney Tunes ever got.

Blog update: New Order returned to number one on the 5th April 1986 indie charts with "Shellshock". It also returned them to the national top 40 after a period of absence, and featured in the "Pretty In Pink" soundtrack; however, it is still brilliantly and resolutely a New Order record.

I forgot that Tony, the football coach at Yale, is married to a woman named Toni. Great football fact.

First of all, the Microsoft Same energy is STRONG in this one across the board.

Secondly, this so-called artificial intelligence totally misses things like cries and grunts entirely. Even the lousiest human-made dubs I've heard don't do that.

Welp, a second AI dub on Amazon has apparently been found, and it's a show that already had a perfectly normal (albeit non-union) dub: No Game No Life.

Protesters in NYC literally blocked an ICE convoy from leaving their staging garage. People are learning from other cities. They’re finding ICE staging areas. They’re patrolling neighborhoods. They’re building rapid response networks. ICE is on the defense now.
ICE garage blockaded in lower Manhattan with dozens of agents stuck inside as more and more New Yorkers gather.

NYPD observed staging on Canal & Broadway, expected come over for crowd control.

I am ambivalent towards Last Christmas, so don't really care if I hear it or not, but people who take Whamageddon this seriously are really quite irritating
I left a job on 1 December a few years ago and a colleague knew I was taking part in Whamageddon. As I was leaving he played Last Christmas on his phone, smirking as he did it. I still haven't forgiven the cunt and he can still stick his LinkedIn connect request up his arse.

The latest 500 Songs bonus is now up for paid backers! Terry Gilliam! Vampirism! Brian Eno! Emperor Haile Selassie! Pete Waterman! Linda McCartney! It's the story of Lee "Scratch" Perry "Return of Django" (and not "The Return" as I typoed in the post and so the preview says, even after fixing)

Some folks have brought this up in comments, but just saying... maybe we should ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION to the multitude of studies showing COVID infections (even "mild" ones) cause brain changes and ongoing cognitive decline. We've been letting our young people get COVID over & over & over again.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.
