I was among the last teachers using an overhead projector by 2010. I had a TI 83 display adapter. But Lombardi is far more OLD SCHOOL than me.
nerdofthemidway.bsky.social
Yeah, but did he ever have an overhead projector press conference?
miketanier.bsky.social
THEY SHOULD. IT BUILDS CHARACTER.

Dated a girl in college who had one of these portable early word processors. Stayed with her a little too long to maintain access to it.
phoenix138nfl.bsky.social
when i was little my dad had a word processor with a tiny little one line screen that let you check what you had just typed before committing it to paper and even that was a huge upgrade at the time

Please vote in every single little election and encourage everyone you know to also do so.

It sounds like your bar for "good" is set at "likely final four team."

I learned how to type, and really write, when an easy to use and forgiving tool took away basic barriers like formatting and corrections!

You gotta play marimba in the marching band somehow.
miketanier.bsky.social
I am 54 and used word processors in a typing lab in college. But Lombardi is TRULY old school.
miketanier.bsky.social
Ever use one? Like, not fiddle with it for a half hour. USE one for a term paper? Have to be the one who replaces a ribbon or types over corrections? The romance would die immediately.
miketanier.bsky.social
Dear lord. I was teaching then. We would get kids a loaner, give them library time, ANYTHING to avoid that fate.

Is CJGJ trying to cover Diontae Johnson?

Schefter: S CJ Gardner-Johnson to be released by the Ravens.

Setting margins required a degree in mechanical engineering.

And huffing correction fluid is very dangerous and not nearly as fun as it sounds.

Every time I mentioned typewriters to my dad, he always brought up how much they absolutely sucked. It didn't take long to make me realize how frustrating it must've been to do so much with them.

Some poor North Carolina undergrad is tasked with changing Mike Lombardi's typewriter ribbon for him. I would volunteer to scrub the locker room bathroom instead.
miketanier.bsky.social
For you young folks who have never experienced a typewriter:

Imagine combining the worst elements of an overused office copy machine, a 15-speed bicycle with bent gears and a marimba, then relying on that device as a key component of your writing process.

"The Jaguars’ problem is that they think they’re normal. They assume football is supposed to feature lots of dropped passes, formation penalties and red-zone catastrophes."

And THAT'S why I published Vibe Rankings this week!!!

(Bucs still were not #1)
aaronschatz.com
This is what you get with power rankings based entirely on vibes.

The idea that the Bucs, given their injuries and record of playing close games, are the No. 1 team in the NFL right now is absurd, as much as I appreciate what Baker Mayfield has been doing.
theathletic.com
A lot can change in a week.

The Chiefs are up 10 spots, the Bills are down 12, and the Jets are… well, the Jets.

Fuck this regime.

Say it with your full chest. And often.

Good for WaPo, NYT, and the others. ✊🏼

It's not just heartbreaking Falcons losses. It's their random upsets. And their knack for backdoor covers. And their habit of playing well early in the year, then collapsing. Never wager for or against them.
miketanier.bsky.social
"The Bears have now won three straight, with back-to-back comebacks by 25-24 final scores. I am seeing this interpreted as a culture change. Since last year’s culture was essentially 'burning meth lab,' I’ll allow that."

Never bet a Falcons game. And now that they are playing well, that's more important than ever.

There's a reason why @miketanier.bsky.social says, Don't wager on the Falcons.

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.
