600 ICE agents were supposed to be deployed to Canal Street. Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered instead.

Quick summary by me:

A classic.
“Philadelphia is the only city, where you can experience the thrill of victory and the agony of reading about it the next day.”

Eagles fandom was always a little toxic. Now it's like breathing in hydrogen chloride and asbestos, plus lava. Success somehow made everything worse.
Mike it’s driving me crazy. This season has been so unpleasant because wins are treated like losses and losses like…playoff losses I guess? Anyway the discourse has been exhausting and I wish people would just chill out.

Ravens fans are like: " ..."
That was not an Ohio State touchdown. He lost possession for a split-second and that was the only split-second he was in the end zone. Replay process basically concluded, "We hate to overturn such a great play for such a stupid reason so we'll pretend he had possession across the goal line."

Fire Sean Payton!
LOL. Hell if you don’t want to go all the way to the depths, they can try being a Denver fan with 1 playoff game in the past 10 years and now people trying to convince you you’re the worst 9-2 team ever. Or they could skip that and just be a Chargers fan.

Protesters in NYC literally blocked an ICE convoy from leaving their staging garage. People are learning from other cities. They’re finding ICE staging areas. They’re patrolling neighborhoods. They’re building rapid response networks. ICE is on the defense now.
ICE garage blockaded in lower Manhattan with dozens of agents stuck inside as more and more New Yorkers gather.

NYPD observed staging on Canal & Broadway, expected come over for crowd control.

Eagles losses are not under fan control.

Crippling Eagles fan fatalism is completely under fan control.

Being mad after losses is natural. Declaring a weekly apocalypse after losses AND WINS 9 months after a Super Bowl parade is a pathology.
We were hosting the friends we didn't see on Thursday for the game yesterday, and as spouse and I were prepping, I said: "You are aware that the Birds are probably going to lose this game, right?" His response: "I know."

So I think maybe this is our fault?

Younger Eagles fans are like the Imperial Sardaukar after being crushed by the Fremen. They had forgotten what it was like to lose!

As someone whose dad had season tickets in the 1970s, I am insulated from this particular sense of despair.

Falcons fandom is unique because no matter how low the bar is set, they fall just below it.
Try being a Falcons fan! You want some perspective? Come see what it’s like being the butt of the joke and having massive letdowns and failures EVERY yr

I agree. Civ Video Game rules apply. "I just conquered the earth as Rome, and now I'm rage-quitting the new games because a barbarian killed my scout. Maybe I should play as the Mayans, on an island map, just to reset my expectations a bit."
I believe the NFL rulebook states that "changing teams" the year after a Super Bowl win requires either the Browns or the Cardinals as your options.

Only by rooting for one of these squads can you complete the circle.

I would actually recommend that Eagles fans who are "fed up" force themselves to root for another team for a while. And they can't pick the Chiefs (they could have done that any time in the 2010s).

Bills and Ravens fandom is great right now. Right?
My Eagles supporting in laws said they should find a new team to root for, potentially the Bears. There aren’t many worse fandom swaps I can think of.

At about 6:30 yesterday, I might have tried to bite your nose off, too!

The problem in Philly is that, by Wednesday or so, Eagles fans will be even MORE angry.
I made the mistake of reminding Eagles fans yesterday that their team is the current Super Bowl champs and they’re in first place and headed to the playoffs. Got called some mean things and was told “I don’t know ball”.

At some cosmic level, that game felt like Eagles fan self-talk made manifest.
Philly fans already did nothing but complain since sept so this game went perfectly for the faithless frustrated misery they really really seem to prefer.

The best strategy when down by 15 in the fourth quarter remains not going down by 15 in the fourth quarter.

Updated AFC elimination scenarios after the Chiefs' loss -- a good result for everyone still scrapping for spots.

Perhaps most notably, the Jets now need the Bills AND Jags to win to get knocked out this week.
