What's the furry equivalent to trans people cracking their egg?

Because this show is absolutely going to be that for at least a handful of people.

In today’s edition of This Week in Anime, @lucasderuyter.bsky.social and discuss Crunchyroll’s recent subtitle hiccups, the competition, viewer expectations, and reflect on what’s like to work in this industry right now.

Coop and Lucas look into the Crunchyroll subtitle situation that set social media ablaze and culminated in a scathing YouTube video by Mother's Basement. Are the technical issues fixed now?

I can see now why this made an impression in the way a lot of early 70s exploitation fare did not. It has a very measured pace, a degree of restraint with the gruesomeness, smooth and professional camera work, and while it leans heavily on jump scares they are well-spaced and impactful.

Today I used the #horrormeganthon to check another classic off the list: the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which teaches us all that hitchhiking can be both the cause of and solution to all of your murderous redneck problems.

This was actually something that came up when Mike talked about this show with AWO, that there were some fansubs out there back in the 90s but people weren't rushing to hunt it down and fansub it all the way through like they did with Zeta Gundam.

That we saw such a quick reversal does arguably support that this might have been a technical issue as they stated, but like I said before, the fact that CR's PR has been so rough lately that it's hard to take anything they say at face value is its own massive problem

...Huh. So I kinda noticed it this morning when watching an episode of My-Dress Up Darling, and assumed it was just a carryover from that show predating this season, but I'm watching ep of of Plus-Sized Misadventures and it looks like CR has fully returned to using Aegisubs

Cedar Ridge is actually local to me - they make very good liquor and they use a lot of local grain to make it.

IDK the founder's politics, but they are certainly a prime example of how Trump's trade war dick-waggling can only do pointless, stupid harm.

I also imagine you would not be down with any of the food/meal subscription schemes (Factor, Hello Fresh, etc.) considering they also have a tendency to exploit their labor.

Please for the love of god, avoid Squarespace. They'll make you do ads for them forever and all you'll get from it is a clunky website host that's way harder to search and use than it should be.

I'll admit I hadn't considered the cat people curse as any sort of lesbian metaphor (since Irena herself is so sex-averse, period), but I can see how one can get there w/ the idea of deviant women who were nearly vanquished by Christian men, forcing them to survive in secret.
brainchild129.bsky.social
I've seen clips of that remake. It is way weirder...and hornier...and kind of stupidly literal about everything.

Edward has become quite the lap cat. This is our morning and lunch time routine.

Look at this stretched out belly full of floof!

Almost certainly the latter, and it's almost hilarious how un-tailored these brands are to the channels they contact.

I really do need to seek out more of Jacques Tourneur's work. I love what he does with light and sound design in this film and the measured approach he takes to the drama. I've enjoyed both I Walked With a Zombie and Curse of the Demon in the past, but I've not seen his non-horror work.

He's not the worst, he's just never had any real problems (something he admits outright), and because of this he lacks the empathy to truly tackle Irena's dilemma.

Well, that and never considering actually talking WITH his wife instead of just AT her, but he's a man in the 40s, what can you do?
brainchild129.bsky.social
I kinda walked away from this hating the husband, who marries this woman on an impulse and promises to be patient and understanding, but the moment things get difficult he hands her off to others and drifts away to his far less emotionally complicated, all-American coworker.

He kinda sucks.
brainchild129.bsky.social
It's ostensibly a horror, but I found it more sad than anything else. Poor Irena is patronized by all the men around her (be it her happy-go-lucky husband or the creepy shrink he hires) to just swallow her fears and to stop being so cold, so weird, so FOREIGN with all her quaint talk of curses.

Cat People is the tragic tale of the marriage between a Serbian artist and an American engineer that slowly falls apart due to her fear that any strong desire or negative feeling will cause her to turn into a deadly panther. #horrormeganthon

I would legitimately recommend buying this movie. It's not because it's any good as a sequel or a film onto itself - oh god no! - but it's got the sort of nonsensical, fever dream quality that makes it a genuine so-bad-its-good experience.

Also $22 is a damn good price for a 4K disc.

If the US can ever vomit this stupid era out we're gonna need widespread all-ages education on basic facts like when you'd see old billboards or MST3k shorts advertising the concept of hand washing or being good. Stop Using Gasoline To Wash Clothes. Springs Are Ubiquitous & Essential To Modern Life
