The seemingly realistic clips — made by OpenAI’s new video-maker Sora 2 — show the legendary civil rights activist making crude jokes, wrestling with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and talking about defecating on himself.

“It is deeply disrespectful and hurtful to see my father’s image used in such a cavalier and insensitive manner when he dedicated his life to truth,” Shabazz, whose father was assassinated in front of her in 1965 when she was 2, told The Washington Post. She questioned why the developers were not acting “with the same morality, conscience, and care … that they’d want for their own families.”

This would be a real gotcha, if most of us weren’t also constantly dismayed by the undeserved ascendancy of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and about a thousand other mediocre men whose only apparent skill is the ability to make themselves rich in a system that rewards amorality.

I love how Caitlin’s main example of Bari Weiss speaking truth to power is a piece about NPR that just goes through the same right-wing tropes about liberal media that we’ve heard a thousand times before.

That she will somehow denigrate the storied

Is there a reason Thiel keeps referring to "the Antichrist" instead of "Satan?"

The "Antichrist" is extremely poorly defined in the Bible and the Church, whereas Satanic demons are shown to have genuine power in Christian mythology (eg, a pagan God defeating the Israelites)

It’s not perfect—the author defers to the standard conservative position that liberalism & multiculturalism bear some responsibility for the rise in neo-Nazism in the postwar era—but as a primer on the multiple strains of esoteric fascism converging on DC and Silicon Valley, it’s pretty good.
