If the rumors about this website’s imminent demise turn out to be true, you can still get all my hottest takes Thursday nights at the MSP Int’l Airport Freedom of Expression booth by baggage claim 3.
Do yourself a favor and spend the weekend watching “The Lowdown” on FX or Hulu.

One of the three must-read essays I assign every Fall.

(The scariest thing is the Megaphone Guy isn’t even a guy, anymore.)
And yes, I’ve read The Braindead Megaphone. Many times. George Saunders should be taught to all Americans.

Love how the phrasing of this question assumes the only two positions on AI are “massively against [it]” and “acceptance.”

It’s also important to remember that you’re not even required to have a response.
There will be a flood of conspiracy theories from both sides about what the DC National Guard shooting "really" was. Except nobody knows exactly what happened or if anyone died, and there are no details about the shooter. Sometimes the proper response is not to respond for a while.

Glass house, white Ferrari, live for New Year's Eve. Sloppy steaks at Truffoni's. Big, rare cut of meat with water dumped all over it. Water splashing around the table makes the night so much more fun.
A prominent Texas Republican is running for Railroad Commission in order to fight the "Islamic invasion." He's vying for a seat vacated by a former commissioner, who is now running for Texas Comptroller on a vow to protect girls' sports.

Can’t understand feeling so certain of my importance to an organization I claim to believe in, that I refuse to step aside even after I’ve killed somebody. Wtf goes on in some people’s heads?
the DFL has a problem with cyndy martin holding multiple leadership roles - like CD8 chair, and CBRC and code of conduct - while facing criminal vehicular homicide charge. she doesn't appear contrite. she appears defiant. she has evaded responsibility from the start

Tinpot dictator shit. The troops learn in boot camp that they are OBLIGED to refuse illegal orders. They took an oath to the Constitution. Reminding them of that is patriotic.

“By what right do I deign to judge the great and merciful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, when to merely type his name on this website is more honor than a lowly journalist like myself should ever hope to be granted.”
Assuming this is related to Ben Smith I was honestly shocked by this, an astonishing bit of bootlicking from top to bottom

Trump does this as a kind of self-soothing behavior, whenever his polling numbers go down and his lickspittles are all too busy to massage his tender balls in person.
On Sunday, Trump posted images of posts from a QAnon-promoting figure with explicit QAnon imagery. Trump's now amplified posts with explicit QAnon imagery dozens of times, & has amplified this figure's Truth Social account nearly 40 times.

The QAnon community has hyped these new amplifications.

In my Grifters and Ideologues theory, Hegseth is your classic grifter. Hegseth doesn't know his job well and doesn't care to know if well. He is obsessed with how people look, which reveals a profound lack of understanding of the military and an obsession with tv.

* Two brothers in NYC both claimed to have invented the six-foot-long party sub. Their shops were in adjacent storefronts and they tried to sabotage each other in various ways for decades. They didn't speak to each other directly for many years, but they did take their feud to court.
