Oh it’s not appropriate for your program to air the president wearing a crown and shitting on American citizens?

You’ll talk about it in euphemisms? Maybe call it the “crown video” and ignore the shitting part? Because that’s appropriate?

Tell me, was it appropriate for the president to do it?

Solidarity!! Last week, Indiana University fired the director of student media & halted print on the Indiana Daily Student newspaper. Yesterday, Purdue’s student paper printed the banned edition & drove two hours to deliver it. Incredible www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/news/l...

The special edition blasted across town features columns from IDS and Exponent editors, alongside QR codes to support both student papers.

Standing on the corner in downtown Taylor, Texas with 200ish other folks spread around the intersection, out supporting democracy and the Constitution. It's cowboy Bill Pickett's corner because that's a statue of him, since he was from Taylor. #NoKings 🇺🇲

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”
@espiers.bsky.social Thanks for your @talkingpointsmemo.com piece about blogging. I started in 2006 and I'm glad I never stopped. I do it 'cause I love it (and no one can tell me what I can say on my blog 😊.)
"I still look for people with early blogger energy, though — people willing to make an effort to understand the world and engage in a way that isn’t a performance, or trolling, or outright grifting. Enough of them, collectively, can be agents of change."

The NYT reports: "Admiral Holsey had raised concerns about the mission and the attacks on the alleged drug boats."

He did what he had to do. He and other senior leadership know how illegal their orders are.

"Also on Wednesday, US Air Force B-52 bombers flew off the coast of Venezuela for more than four hours, CNN previously reported." This whole thing is pretty weird.

I made this again last night and will once again testify that this is an excellent "feel like I made a substantial meal while doing minimal actual work" recipe.
If you are in a dinner rut and just need something easy to make tonight, just make this. I double the amount of carrots but otherwise leave it as is. You can skip the part where you pull it out after 40 minutes to spoon juices on top of the chicken if you're feeling super defeated.

Similar to "locker room talk." Yeah, a locker room full of douchebags. 🙄
last i checked these young republicans were like 25 years old. but this is a classic case of infantilization to diminish the significance of the offense. www.yahoo.com/news/article...

i have to be honest, gang, i have some questions about this republican strategy of telling everyone to tune in and pay attention to what’s likely to be one of the largest days of political protest in american history directed at the republican party
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"
The WORST. 🤣💰
It’s great to be paid for protesting and everything but let me tell you the whole antifa reimbursement process is just terrible

Eek! I'm a generous tipper, usually 20%, but that is absurd.
I need a moment of boomer-like complaining because I went to a local coffee shack the other day and the suggested tip amounts on the cash register were 25%, 35%, and 45% and girl, WHAT.

Great thread on the distinctive political culture of Portland, by a US historian who is very much from Portland.
What The Hell Is Going On, a thread:

I’ve seen some thinkpieces and posts about Portland protests that fail to understand the long-term hyperspecificity of Portland culture/humor, and frame it as a sort of shitposting meme-pilled ironic thing. Which is wrong.

So I’m gonna give you my breakdown.
If you're older, consider getting an MMR titer test along with the usual fall flu shot and COVID booster. Given the problems we're having with a measles resurgence in the U.S., I want to make sure that I'm still immune. Did all three today at my local CVS in Texas.
