I've never seen a video game enjoyer obsessively getting all trophies/achievements in every game they play who sounded happy about that behavior.
It's never "Yeah, I really got the most out of this experience"
But rather "Ugh, finally I'm done with that horrible chore I just HAD TO endure "

After having finished and loved Bananza, I'm hopping into Silksong and it feels like coming home.
I love how the game makes it immediately clear to me that it wants to frustrate me if I'm not more careful than I was in the predecessor.

I think I'll forever have a soft-spot for Analgesic Productions' games. No two are alike mechanically or even thematically, but they have a shared dreamlike feel to them. Fragmented worlds, strange prose and the *feel* of what videogames are below the surface.

Finished Bananza and found it pretty peak. The finale was one the best gaming things 2025 probably likely especially for somebody like who grew up on repeatedly playing the og DKC.

Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.
