I have realized something about the mustache. A power I hadn't recognized before.

One of my favorite things about #BlakeManor is having conversations about people who are standing not even a meter away. There's a lot of (unintentional?) comedy gold in this game.

Gamers. Do yourself a favor and get #StrayChildren. I'm an hour in and can already tell, this is gonna be a special game for me. And it's not just bc of the Kafka, it also has a lot of emotional honesty, weird characters, and big themes going on.

Seltener deutscher Post aus Übersetzungsfaulheit. Meine Takes zu FF7 Rebirth:
Bin zwiegespalten. Einerseits ist das Spiel ein gewaltiges Werk und mehr und besser als ich es mir hätte vorstellen können, als das erste Remake damals angekündigt wurde. Es ist quasi alles da, was eins sich wünschen würde an set pieces, sequenzen und momenten. Das Versprechen "Wir geben euch (das zweite Drittel) FF7 in modern wurde absolut erfüllt. Andererseits hat das Spiel gefühlt keinen richtigen Fokus. Es will alles machen, am besten gleichzeitig. Die Menge an Minispielen ist schon gnadenlos drüber und wenn die Hälfte davon gekickt worden wär, dem Spiel würde nichts fehlen. Das Kampfsystem ist an sich gut und hat viel Potenzial, allerdings sindo beinahe 100% der Kämpfe derartig trivial, dass man nie wirklich ein Gefühl für die zig Werkzeuge entwickelt, die einem das Spiel gibt. Wenn dann doch vereinzelt Kämpfe auftauchen, bei denen strategisches Vorgehen notwendig ist, steht man plötzlich vor einem riesigen Difficulty Spike. Das wäre nicht so schlimm, wenn das Ausprobieren neuer Strategien mit umständlichem Menüherumgewusel einhergehen würde. Das fühlt sich eher nach Arbeit an als nach spaßigem Herumexperimentieren. Im Vergleich dazu hat ein DMC dieses Problem beispielsweise nicht. Das Ausprobieren unterschiedlicher Moves und Strategien geht fast komplett menüfrei. Höchstens das Umstellen von Waffenshortcuts ist nötig, alle anderen Tools sind halt mittem im Gameplay abrufbar. Wie gut ich die Story finden würde, hing vor allen Dingen vom Ende ab für mich. Remake hat uns implizit versprochen, dass die Dinge in dieser Iteration von FF7 ANDERS werden würde. Das Potenzial dieses Versprechens seh ich bisher als verpulvert. Nomura hat sich im Prinzip einen Freifahrtschein gegeben, alles Mögliche zu machen und die Welt von FF7 aus komplett anderen Perspektiven zu erforschen, doch im Prinzip hält sich Rebirth zum Großteil an den Fahrplan, den das PSX-Original vorgibt. /tbc Das wäre nicht so schlimm, wenn Remake nicht diese Erwartungen an große Veränderungen eingepflanzt hätte. Dazu kommt, dass Rebirth einem diese möglichen Veränderungen dauernd wie ein Köder vor den Augen vorführt. So viel Spielzeit dacht ich mir "boah, da wartet bestimmt ein großer Brummer, Nomura der Schlingel spielt wie ein Maestro mit unseren Gefühlen." Vor allen Dingen in den letzten 2-3 Stunden gaukelt einem das Spiel einen Twist nach dem anderen vor. Cloud tötet Aerith? Nein. Cloud rettet Aerith? Nein. Aerith ist tot? Nein.. oder doch? Oder nein? Durch dieses ganze Wirrwarr an Was-passiert-grad-wirklich-und-was-nicht geht jede Dramatik verloren und die Auflösung von allem schmeckt fade und enttäuschend. Aerith ist tot, ole ole, aber es gibt eine andere Welt da ist sie nicht tot und Zack auch nicht und vielleicht überschneiden die sich nochmal, vielleicht aber auch nicht, ist egal, tschüss aerith, zurück zur normalen FF7-Tour. Viel verschwendetes Potenzial und gefühlt wäre die Umsetzung eines beliebigen Fanfic spannender gewesen. Vielleicht hebt sich Nomura den dicken Käse für das Finale auf, aber so wie es steht ist es iwie sehr meh. Mal schauen ob Hard Mode die Gameplay-Probleme ein bisschen relativiert. Bei Remake war Hard Mode ein Highlight für mich, aber das war auch ein wesentlich fokussierteres Spiel.|| Ich weiß auch nicht, für wen dieses Spiel bzw. diese Geschichte sein soll. Für Fans von Original ist es seltsam bis enttäuschend, weil diese ganzen Anspielungen an mögliche Änderungen kein wirkliches Payoff haben. Wie hart es Spekulationen von Fans gab, dass man Aerith ja vielleicht doch retten könnte und wie witzig wäre es gewesen, den großen Twist vom OG auf den Kopf zu stellen. Idk. Vorm Spielen dachte ich mir "aerith lebt" wäre ein etwas offensichtlicher Twist, jetzt wäre es mir sehr willkommen gewesen. Für Leute, die das Original nie gespielt haben, ist es jedoch einfach nur verwirrend. Dauernd passieren Dinge und Sachen werden angespielt, zu denen es keinen Kontext gibt. Zack einfach so ein Typ der manchmal auftaucht und Cloud kennt. Hä, mehrere Welten? Klar. Hä? Dunno. Alles seltsam. Auch das Theming einfach komplett verdreht zu Remake. In Remake geht es darum, sich gegen das Schicksal zu wehren und sich neue Pfade zu schaffen. In Rebirth geht es darum, sich dem Schicksal zu beugen. Aber man kommt zwischendurch Fenster zu anderen Realitäten, wo man mal durchgucken kann

Started learning chess this year (at 34) to be able to play with the elementary school kids I work with now.

I can now confidently say that I can almost always beat a 3rd grader. Same does NOT go for all the 4th graders...

Yesterday I finally managed to lower the world record in Frogun Encore to under 20 minutes (which was kinda my goal before my run at #AGDQ2025. Also, the game's dev @molegato.bsky.social and fellow runner and friend @dtraitor1.bsky.social. What serendipity!
