Any organisation joining the persecution of transgender people in the UK does not get a free pass.

This is going downhill fast, and it will end in a dark place.

When this is all over, there must be no "we didn't know", or "we were only followng orders".

This has to stick to them forever.

How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.

Even with my bedrock low opinion of Labour, I was clinging to some shred of hope that even they would realise that stealing the last remaining possessions of people who have fled for their lives was a disgusting policy. Turns out there isn't a bottom to this particular barrel they are scraping.
For fairly obvious reasons when people flee their countries of origin to seek asylum elsewhere they can't carry much. Often things like jewellery are all they have to hold onto. This isn't just stripping people of "assets", it is stealing their memories. 57/

The only Legitimate Concerns about asylum seekers are concerns for their well being and safety. For a rich country like ours to incessantly whine about these people as if we are their victims is perhaps the single most pathetic spectacle in British politics over the past quarter century.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

In just the past one week I’ve had two instances where I’ve been glared at and made to feel intimidated by white men. One pulled his little daughter away from me as if I was going to do something to her. I can’t stop thinking about how much worse it is for so many other Black and brown people.

Every far-right riot and protest that was tolerated, every racist dog whistle from public reps, every bit of hate and misinformation allowed to spread by social media companies, all led to this moment in Drogheda last night where someone felt emboldened enough to try to burn children alive.

5 years being in this country & it’s the first time I have been worried about celebrating Diwali. I am scared to be on the phone to my family in public as hearing a different language might trigger someone. I think twice about what I wear, don’t want it to be too different. Why am I even here?

Anyone willing to sacrifice one minority group, for any reason, is a fascist to me. I don't believe that ppl need to earn basic human rights or prove that they deserve them. That's why they're called Basic HUMAN rights, not rights if you're het, or white, or amab.

Friends keep saying, “oh just ignore the flags, they will fall apart on their own”. That’s not the point though, is it? Majority of white people won’t do enough to help POC feel safe. It’s doesn’t matter if you think putting flags up is “not cool”. What are you going to do about it?

When centrists affirm and validate racist grievance politics - that refugees are a burden, that racists have "legitimate concerns" about refugees - they empower the far right to take steps like the below, which would be unthinkable had the underlying assumptions not been turned into a common sense.
Restore Britain's convoluted way of calliing for Britain to take no refugees at all.

UK should only ever give refugee status to genuine asylum seekers from neighbouring countries, which, given every one of our neighbours is a safe country "would effectively mean scrapping our whole asylum system"

It's gone. It's not reclaimable. It's a symbol of colonialism and racist hatred. Sticking a wanky little phrase across it isn't going to change that. Sticking yet more flags all over the place is going to make people feel further isolated by it though, and give the racists just what they want.

Bristol was amazing as always. About 500 counter-protesters sending the fash home. And cops protecting the fascists as expected, letting them march, threatening to arrest us if don’t get into their “play pens”. None of it worked and they were vastly outnumbered. Bristol is anti-fascist ✊🏽

White people saying the left shouldn't call racists racist boils down to a fundamental failure of empathy.

They don't experience racism so they don't think it's a big deal, they have experienced being called racist and hated it so they sympathise with the racists.
