As an update on it, RA has taken a lot of steps towards fixing the problems that arose last week. The bad actor on the mod team was dealt with, inappropriate sets are being removed, and users are being removed both on site and discord. RA streams will continue tonight as normally scheduled.

Today on @retroachievements.org has been truly disappointing. I recently reached a milestone on the leaderboard after many years of playing the games, helping improve sets, and making guides to help others master sets. I’m filing for account deletion and pulled my funding for the site.

Account settings page from RetroAchievements with my request to delete my account containing the following text:

Delete Account
After requesting account deletion you may cancel your request within 14 days.
Your account's username will NOT be available after the deletion.
Your account's personal data will be cleared from the database permanently.
Content you wrote in forums, comments, etc. will NOT be removed.

You've requested account deletion.
Your account will be permanently deleted on
October 17.

Dear RetroAchievements community,

Today, we have made an announcement regarding a policy clarification on our User Code of Conduct. This was met with serious concerns, and we fully acknowledge that we have let the community down by how we handled it.

First of, we would like to apologize for how this started in the first place. We posted this announcement in the forum post of Pokémon Clover, which (understandably) associated the announcement specifically with that game. This policy clarification was meant to be regarding transparency of our policy in general, and was not meant to be associated with a single game. Pushing this to the front page did not help, and for that, we do deeply apologize.

One concern that was brought up was regarding our stance as an archival platform not curating what games we allow on our platforms, aside from games that have been deemed illegal. This obviously raised concerns that, given our stance, we are also in favour of allowing an edgy Pokémon hack that glorifies hate speech. This obviously goes against our ideal of a retro gaming platform, and we have no intention to ever be associated with hate speech.

Effective immediately, development on Pokémon Clover is stopped and it will not be released in its current state on RetroAchievements.

Internally, we are going to discuss how to move forward with content like this in the future. This will take time, because we want to be absolutely sure we reach a conclusion that we can truly stand behind. We have lost goodwill today from all sides, but we will do our best to ensure we live up to the expectations you have for us.

I’m so tired of everything. I shouldn’t have to face hate on a daily basis as a woman in the gaming community, but here we are. You can say just don’t read the forums or grow thicker skin, but it’s literally all over reality. I’m tired of being told “this isn’t for you,” but more hateful.

Was sent by a friend that the dev for the problematic RA set is already dropping it. This alone is not enough though. A public statement that this kind of content isn't acceptable needs to be made and proper guidelines and making sure no games like this ever get sets

I've finished another #godot game for a #gamejam, this time the #gbjam #gbjam13, I think it's pretty good (if light on content) for one week's worth of work.

I do wish I could fit more content in, but week long jams are very short when you can't crunch!
