Also, looking at the rest of the roster, he falls into the "our best hope for the future" category, which probably earns him a little extra consideration.
Why do you have to curse him like that... 😆
Anyone who's worked in the corporate world knows that multiple-hour meetings are useless by definition.
I don't follow baseball much anymore, but to the extent I do, I'm a Dodgers fan, and even so I felt terrible for that pitcher. Does Southwest still do those "Wanna get away?" ads anymore?

K. Perkins may not be the most reliable source, but my memory is that it wasn't just the money; Harden/Russ weren't a good fit in terms of both needing the ball - e.g., James coming off the bench, but IIRC he ran the offense every play in the 4th quarter www.si.com/nba/clippers...

The deal is close enough to what GS offered in July that I suspect they already had a trade partner/target in mind, and that's why they didn't budge much in negotiations

We laugh at this shit -- I mean, how can you not? -- but it's serious: these guys want to infuse reactionary thinking into AI and then infuse AI into every nook & cranny of American life. They can't win the argument so they are trying to blunt-force their views onto us with money & power.

While there was a lot of crazy and a lot of threats in this meeting (because Trump is a dementia sufferer surrounded by fascists), nearly all of it was aspirational and abstract.

But telling the US military that the opposition party is their enemy is immediate impeachment stuff, abstract or no.
Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

I am so sick of people gushing over Erica Kirk forgiving the assassin at the memorial service because I got her fundraising emails where she was baying for revenge. It's all an act.

Last week was a watershed moment where Donald Trump dropped pretexts that are standard even for dictators. He openly announced that TV networks aren't allowed to criticize him personally, got Kimmel fired, and order his AG to prosecute his enemies without evidence.

There's no constituency for "we're like republicans but sane." Democratic voters don't want republican policy and republican voters don't want sanity

I hate these backhanded Times headlines. Instead of "President Trump Sows Division" it's "Unity is Not Trump's Mission." Because somehow the latter is more objective.
Hard to imagine someone so ill suited to unifying in times of trouble. In actuality he is most often the source of that trouble.

Makes you wonder when people will develop reasoning models. Not in an LLM, but in their actual heads.
One day, American "educators" will learn that machines cannot actually comprehend what they read, much less process it via critical principles. But that day is not today.
Oh my God. A contractor for the state of #Massachusetts used AI to score MCAS standardized tests. It resulted in incorrect scores on about 1,400 tests, which had to be rescored.

They've called for vengeance without knowing the shooter or his motives, which proves it was a pretext all along. They want to crush the left and they'll take any excuse to do it.

It absolutely matters here that Pritzker was effective at sounding the alarm and plainly stating this would be unconstitutional in a profoundly radical and fundamental way, and showing he could rally practical popular opposition, which then gets spun as backing out over "legal headaches."

Trump shelved his plans to target Chicago as the next city for his domestic crime push after advisers warned him that sending in troops to help with local law enforcement (without buy-in from the state’s governor) could create legal headaches they want to avoid, sources familiar with the matter told CNN

Now he’s going to Memphis
