I was trying to do something that involved a pdf today and the AI that's now in adobe made it almost impossible to work with a simple document. They need to stop with this ****!

I think children and young people need to feel a sense of discovery even while adults are guiding the content and the environment. Being curious is a skill we can learn how to use! It gives us a sense of agency. If we only ever memorise what people have already found out, learning becomes static. 🤷‍♀️

Why on earth is the DfE forcing this stuff onto hard pressed schools especially if it's not actually helping? I would ask them if they were on here but they're obviously too busy finding pointless use cases for AI. 🙄

Very cool thread! Drama teachers especially will love this. ⬇️

FFS if an essay is **** we need to be free to explain why that is and how to improve it or else all hope of learning is lost.

When I was in primary school, we were admonished not to speak Scots, that it was "slang" & for "Low Class" people. It makes me cry to see how much attitudes have changed & that Scots & Gaelic are being celebrated & promoted in Scotland & by the Scottish government.

I tried to explain my thinking on #SEND and behaviour this morning in this thread. Always useful to revisit the Salamanca Statement too. 🧵

This is bizarre but why on earth do the young people let them do it? My kids would be like 'don't be a weirdo mum' if I even suggested it.
People are very hard on young people on here, lack of critical thinking, lack of responsibility etc, and then you see something like this and it all makes a different kind of sense.

In recent days, information has surfaced that provides what appears to be a textbook example of an unlawful order that could have—and should have—been refused.

🧵 Just a few thoughts on the SEND/'bad behaviour' discussions that I'm seeing atm. Firstly I wish we would stop using 'bad' when talking about behaviour. We're not engaged in a moral judgement. Calling behaviour 'bad' doesn't sit well with having unconditional positive regard for young people. 1/5

Studies show how the giant statues on Rapa Nui were made and moved—and what caused the island's deforestation
Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, is often portrayed in popular culture as an enigma. The rationale is clear: The tiny, remote island in the Pacific features nearly 1,000 enormous statues—the moa...

The highest calling of journalism isn’t to tell two sides of a story.

The highest calling of journalism is to tell the truth.

And acting like a stenographer is a betrayal of your audience.
Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.
