Remember when Stephen Miller claimed the Chicago apartment raid was on a building “filled with Tren de Aragua terrorists”?

Well, DHS has now dropped the number of alleged TdA members arrested in the building from 2 to 1.

Just one "verified" Tren de Aragua member and one U.S. citizen with an active warrant were among the 37, DHS said, without saying how it had verified that gang affiliation. Others taken that day, the agency said, were "illegal aliens."

Defund all law enforcement? Too many agencies, all with different needs, basically impossible, doesn't solve the cultural problem. Abolish ICE? One agency, one toxic culture within another (DHS). Difficult, not impossible to implement

I posted about this on X, and Tricia McLaughlin, the DHS spokesperson, QTed me to say the kid was actually a hardened criminal arrested with a knife and a gun.

So far she has provided no evidence of this. I share this to give DHS's response, and for the possibility she is telling the truth.

My original post on X: "This makes NO SENSE. A 13-year-old was arrested by local police for unknown reasons, and then turned over to ICE, which is detaining him far away from his mother — who is going through immigration court, has an asylum application on file, and is legally authorized to work." Underneath that I posted a link to the opening paragraphs of the article and the headline.

In response, DHS Spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, @TriciaOhio, wrote: "Here are the facts: he posed a public safety threat with an extensive rap sheet including violent assault with a dangerous weapon, battery, breaking and entering, destruction of property. He was in possession of a firearm and 5-7 inch knife when arrested."

It's stupider than that, Bibi's had a reputation as a POS going back to his time as chief of mission for Israel in DC, regarded as a general roadblock to peace. Clinton famously bitched about Bibi after first meeting him: “Who the fuck does he think he is? Who’s the fucking superpower here?"

I don’t know anyone who worked in the other agencies of the law enforcement and intelligence communities who had the slightest respect for DHS; it was widely viewed as an unwise, knee jerk bureaucratic reaction to the attacks of 9/11 that solved no real problems and created many new ones.
