For any of my Star Trek friends on here that might be interested, over on my @pt.letterboxd.social I have a running list of every movie I watch that has a Star Trek actor in it. It's a nice list if you need help picking something to watch & they all contain Trek actors

I mean no disrespect to the Cubs and Brewers, but this makes me mad the Phillies are already out.

Your starting-pitching matchup in Game 5 between the Cubs and Brewers: Drew Pomeranz vs. Trevor Megill. Leverage reliever vs. leverage reliever in a series that has seen 21 runs scored in the first inning. It’s going to be a festival of bullpenning to see who faces the Dodgers.

I want to support Terry Matalas and watch Visionquest, but the thought of watching two other whole ass Marvel shows to understand what’s happening sounds exhausting and is likely not to happen.

Happy to report that Roofman is a surprisingly fun time!

Sad to report that Smashing Machine is quite bad, which is a not so fun surprise given how much I enjoy Safdie movies.

I’ll be open minded and give this a shot for a couple episodes. But there’s almost nothing here that I find interesting.

I listen to a LOT of podcasts through the week and yours and Tony’s is one of the best in terms of production quality
starktrek.bsky.social
I’m an avid podcast listener and agree with much of this. But my biggest pet peeve: not planning your ads! There’s one podcast I listen to with fairly prominent people and they just let ads go wherever, often cutting off dialogue mid sentence. It’s maddening

Is it just me, or have podcasts in general gotten lazier about about maintaining quality? I mean this in every respect: clean audio quality, quality of information, presentation by the speakers, and especially editing. Holy fuck have I had it with podcasts that don't edit. Ready for a rant? 🧵

I can't imagine anything of significance being announced for Star Trek at NYCC this weekend, given all the transition. But I can't wait for the day where there will be anticipation for these types of events again. Because that day will indeed come again for the franchise.

The display of Enterprises from First Contact with the Picard figure is a cool thing. I'll definitely be picking that one up

The top image is what many Phillies fans will remember. For me, I want to remember the bottom one — the one of the leader of the team not letting one of his guys off the field after a mistake without knowing he’s got him. That’s some good leadership.

Me, too. Like I said, he’ll be the face of this end, and that’s entirely unfair to him. Even if he makes the play to first, the Phillies lineup gave little evidence they’d do anything with another chance to win. The loss was inevitable.

Kudos to Orion for owning up to things. He’ll be the face of this collapse, which is entirely unfair. The lineup failed the pitching the entire series. This is on the 1-9 lineup.

Orion Kerkering was very candid after his miscue.

Anyone who thinks Rob Thomson should be fired is nuts.

Changes certainly need to be made:

But I’m not sure what more a manager could do with a lineup they goes totally inept during the playoffs. Rob has made some mistakes. But this isn’t on him. #phillies

I just rewatched that final play. JT was pointing dramatically for Kerkering to throw to first. He just froze and then panicked. Man. #phillies

I’m generally in agreement, Matt. But I don’t think they can run this same overall lineup out again. Castellanos needs to go. And there’s a conversation to be had about any of Bohm, Marsh, and Stott. They need some significant retooling around the core
starktrek.bsky.social
If there’s one consolation, it’s that tonight is very likely the last time I have to see Nick Castellanos in a Phillies uniform. And that’s really great. Get him gone tomorrow.

Absolutely brutal way for this great season to end. Can’t believe it ended on a play like that.

I don’t know what happens from here, but absolutely no way this team can run this same core out another year. Changes must be made. #phillies

I don’t understand Kerkering here over Tanner Banks. Banks has been excellent with runners on this season.

They could not even get 1 hit, let alone 1 run.

Dear Phillies. 1 run.

1 goddamn run.

Please.

That blown strike 3 call is gonna haunt the Phillies this inning. It may end the series.

BRB. Gonna go pace the street and probably pace out. #phillies
