🧵 The embarrassing umich drama this week is reminding me that our leadership is so abysmal in great part because our system of selecting Regents is terrible.

#A2Council yet another car-wrecking crash at Summit & N Main this morning. It's mildly traumatizing to see regular car-disabling wrecks next to and on the sidewalks you use every day. The drivers usually walk away, but people on our own neighborhood streets don't have airbags inside a cage.

I'm not interested in Sherrone Moore's "side of the story" when the story is stepping out on your wife and three young children with a subordinate at work. Fuck his story.
"What we haven't heard yet is Sherrone Moore's side of this. And he gets his say in this particular situation as well. I do know he felt like people had it in for him for an awful long time."

Well now, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

It's crazy that many cities are getting automated taxis before they get automated trains.

Trains are technically much easier to automate. But the standards for safe driving are so, so much lower.

Thank you, @maom.bsky.social, for surfacing the issue and to Chief Anderson for acting so quickly. We are an inclusive community that is committed to safety practices rooted in trust rather than suspicion. These signs communicate the opposite and it’s long past time for them to go. #a2council
In 2020, I started to run every street in Ann Arbor and noticed the Neighborhood Watch signs around town. I was curious and learned that they came out of the 1994 Crime Bill effort for "community policing", and are part of a deeply racist tradition that aims to exclude people that "don't belong".

Debt fueled college tuition makes steers a lot of people away from valuable, undercompensated work.
Law school cost me $190,000.

I have paid $206,000 since graduation.

I now owe $223,000.

I pay $830 per month, and next year it will be more.

I genuinely believe law school student loans are designed to make pro bono representation impossible.

Think much of the over-parenting we despise stems from the early on fear of the driver.
If parents weren't terrified of our streets kids would have so much more freedom and independence which might get them comfortable with their children's ability to navigate the world without them.

In defense of Pantone, if they had picked any other color it would have been illegal DEI.
Pantone’s 2026 color of the year is technically not a color at all — meet Cloud Dancer, the first-ever white shade to receive the designation from the world’s color authority.

I’ve been writing about kei cars and minicars for years, and I’d be thrilled to see them legalized in the US. But I suspect this story/White House announcement is less than meets the eye.

Legalizing minicars is a heavy regulatory/political lift, not a “flip the switch” kind of change.

Trump Wants Asia’s ‘Cute’ Kei Cars to be Made and Sold in US
President Donald Trump, apparently enamored by the pint-size kei cars he saw during his recent trip to Japan, has paved the way for them to be made and sold in the US, despite concerns they’re too sma...
