I'm putting dog medicine all over my hands to make them rough and gnarled. My callous-crusted mitts are flipping burgers on the grill without utensils and digging a bomb shelter like a mole. I'm building a home for my beautiful white American family - a deep hole in the earth dug by unfeeling hands.

Everyone hating on this correctly, but the problem isn't that Gaston can't be interesting, it's that Disney is making it. Imagine a Gaston becoming a huge asshole on other people's advice in response to some imagined slight, revealing the misunderstandings of the townspeople he drags down with him.
something i've learned from ~the present moment~ is that most villains, at their core, just aren't interesting. they're small and selfish and view others as objects. i really don't care how it happened tbh!

Like there's no sin in having your elves and orcs and dungeons and magic systems, but these are just signifiers. You still have to be tapping into that sense of longing and awe that distorts the mundane.

"People don't want to use something that's shitty overall because it's easier or wrong sometimes" seems to be a common belief, but it's just not correct. Fundamentally wrong about human nature. Most people want to be doing something slightly illegal or offensive with their dumbest cousin.

I am deeply anti-AI, but we should all know that the capacity will be used. LLM interfaces over basically every existing internet API has nothing to do with new features or demand, but provides a slightly lazier interface for users and allows them to harvest more of your data.
Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.
