Perspective is a huge thing for this genre, if you construct the world for the reader from a perfectly omniscient overview you lose all sense of discovery. It ends up feeling more like tourism than adventure

Been reading a bunch of sword and sorcery to try and glean some ideas off and it's amusing how much this genre will forcibly frontload its world building. You get two sentences about the protagonist and then "ok so here's every nation relative to his current position and the names of their people"

In retrospect RP accounts were one of the funniest parts of tumblr. One time I was putting together this rough fantasy comic and two dragon RPers just kind of, inserted themselves in a 3rd person commentary shit talking the protagonist. Like guys I'm just drawing things, not playing your weird game

Like my goal is to find peers, and you can have success doing that, but only in a transient way. You start losing frame of reference of where you stand in the world if you don't have a group in common, and that gets distorted by what's most visible which is most often people you can't measure up to

Even with an idealized team running things here I lack faith in Bluesky in the same way I lack faith in all contemporary social media in how the universalized format has destroyed the capacity for tight knit communities. You're adrift in the damn ocean everywhere you go
