democrats are perpetually associated with extremist tankies who openly hate the democratic party, but even outlets that report on nazism among republican party staffers will never hang this albatross on republican officials
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Let me emphasize once again that if you’re inclined toward “no deal is possible with these guys” then trying to make a reasonable deal and getting this reaction demonstrates that far better than just asserting it and refusing to try would have.
Memes serve as a tool of dark participation and are used purposefully “to disrupt, undermine, attack, resist or reappropriate discursive positions pertaining to public affairs narratives in the news” (Peters & Allan, 2021, pp. 2–3)

I’ve read that a lot of the “Reddit atheist” stereotype comes from Americans leaving religion but not realizing how hard cultural Christianity is baked into them, and it seems like Catholic converts are doing the same with cultural Protestantism
As the former I can read faster than the presenter talks, go back over something I didn’t understand more quickly, and there’s no risk of annoying influence voice

At my parents’ place and they’re watching some show about how own would build ancient monuments in the modern day

More than that. "The FBI ***recorded*** Tom Homan taking the money "after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration."
Tom Homan was investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents. Trump's DOJ shut it down.

The FBI and Justice officials closed the investigation, which a Justice Department appointee had called a “deep state” probe in early 2025.
