Rock music is more important than a soundtrack for escaping to everything is perfect land. It is a release, a cleansing. A friend who walks with you, assuring you are not alone in your pain. A channel for working through what is easier to suppress or morph into hate. It is messy and necessary.

Of course there are young people obsessed with music, but overall, they engage with it differently, both in terms of how they discover music, how they listen to it, and how / if they become a super fan of an artist
