When I read "this game can do anything!" I hear "this game's mechanics are completely decoupled from the fiction" and "we want to appeal to the widest customer base possible so committed to absolutely nothing."

“This game can do anything! It can tell any story!” is, for me, the least interesting thing you can say about a game.

Give me a hyper specific design that tells one kind of story every single day. “It’s so flexible of a system!” I don’t care. That is such a boring selling point.

I will *always* be triggered by certain things, but I have strategies to minimise their long term and (in some cases) short term effects on me.

It’s not a binary thing - healed/unhealed, and the idea that you can be “healed” re: anything psychological is misleading.

That phrasing - assuming the inner child (or any psychological part of you) can be healed - irks me.

You can’t unbreak an arm.

My adult knows coping strategies to soothe my child. They’re not healed. They’re loved and soothed when something frightens them. We work as a team.
