Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

You know the classic problem: I can't move to go to sleep because the cat is sleeping on me? I've now added the new one: I can't wake up and get up because the cat is sleeping on me.

The only solution is to switch all my hours to cat hours. It's the only way!

I paid about $4.50 per gallon last time I filled up in Oregon, so it's hard not to side-eye all the gushing articles about low gas prices.
Gas prices drop below $3 per gallon, lowest since 2021.

I'm reading this now, and it involves a Winter's Turning festival! Y'all, that makes it totally seasonal! Just add a bone crown and a swooping flock of festive crows to all goths' delight!

You know you want a witch queen and librarian love story!

Why are students having learning challenges?

I can't imagine:
I just read my tenth #COVID19 research study in the past month or so that demonstrates COVID infections cause brain changes that may accelerate Alzheimer's disease, are associated with cognitive decline, and cause fatigue, memory impairment, and sleep disorders. (1/?)

every single I’ve ever written or tried to write has had this piece of text underneath it. I’ve heard this in the background every time I’ve tried to meaningfully put words together since I was maybe thirteen years old

I immediately stop reading anything with AI images. The source is no longer trustworthy.

Images in slides are an integral part of the learning experience and should be chosen with the same care as the words.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.
