Australia is quietly rolling out age checks for search engines like Google
Just as Australians are adjusting to the idea of having their ages checked for social media, age assurance rules are being applied to search engines and many other corners of the internet.

I agree. It was about appearing to do something. The real issue is the big social media companies being completely derelict in enforcing any standard of civil conduct.

Australia’s social media ban comes out of the cult of self-help books. Dodgy research and rich false gods preaching about the ills of contemporary society. Yet structural issues aren’t addressed.

The under-16s social media ban will damage young people’s political education. Teachers need better support
We know that Australian children’s civics education is at an all-time low. The government’s social media ban may make this worse.

A big feature of hating the poor, is people wildly overestimating how much help is available to the poor, and the quality of that help.

They imagine welfare is an easy to get, comfortably livable income, or imagine we eat well off charity, when irl rich donors commonly use charity to offload waste
