Not to get too into the weeds, but a lot of that technological leap really started in the 20's (aforementioned washing machines, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, etc.), only to get stunted by two decades of depression and war. The 50's was in that sense the 20's properly concluded.

I mean yes but also, think about what a huge material improvement in life quality the 50’s represented. Mass adoption of cars, dishwashers, washing machines, shelf stable foods, refrigerators, vaccines, etc. There probably will never be an invention as good as the washing machine again.
