Let your haters be your satyrs at the drunken orgy of success
Swear to god thought this was the pitch bot account when I first read it
Like, there's gonna be a high degree of variance. I definitely grew up with great video store experiences, and I'm sure for some (maybe a lot of) people it sucked. But what's really nightmarish? Is flattening human experience to this is just how this works everywhere now.

like the saying goes, “eventually you run out of someone else’s computer”
The AWS outage today is a good reminder that there is no "cloud", there's just somebody else's computer.
Shelved by Genre gets my rec as a first time reader of Book of the New Sun, though it should be of interest to people that are rereading as well.

So I've been idly pondering how I'd go about teaching people-sketching nowadays, and I remembered doing a tutorial a few years back about powering up your stick figures. I just figured where I put it! Let's break this out page by page. (1/4)

Good morning I’m in @theverge.com profiling @ekkoastral.bsky.social @jael.bsky.social and some other cool trans musicians who are bringing the organizing energy they learned from being trans online to music venues across the country. These musicians are meeting the moment.
The DIY and IRL energy of punk rock mutual aid
Bands like Ekko Astral are bringing the urgency of online solidarity into the mosh pit.

"[O]ver here, the other outcome continues to unfold, to roll in dark as the end of time. Those you could have saved, could've shifted at least somehow onto a safer stretch of track, are one by one robbed, beaten, killed, seized and taken away into the nameless, the unrecoverable."
ty. don't live in sf anymore, but the roxie was one of the great things about living there.
quite literally style without substance! the zohran poster, "For a New York you can afford". by contrast, "I'm running for U.S. senate" umm okay?
My favorite moment in Cloud is when the protagonist realizes exactly what kind of movie he is in

HA Green is pretty easy. Mostly plug & play with a little bit of configuration work. For straight forward automations you don't even need to touch any yaml files, the web ui will work just fine.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

It’s true: the cities are lawless and scary, if you live here sell your property as fast as possible, particularly if you have a 2 family row house from the 1920s with those nice bay windows.

Initial impression of Shadow Ticket: Pynchon writing in old timey slang with a cast of goofy midwesterners is a fun read.

These disconnects always reveal how the point of algorithmic culture, recommender algorithms, and now “AI”, isn’t to give you agency or help you find more of what you want; it’s to influence your behavior and attitudes towards what the people running the algorithms want. Programmable people.
Entire GDP built around algorithms and my music app still can't figure out that if I skip a song every single time it's served up I NEVER WANNA HEAR THAT SONG.

Someone needs to start collecting cassette copies of In Got We Trust, Inc and see what people taped over the B Side.

I've said this for years but I've not got the means to do so
