Behold, the Sword of Power! Excalibur! For anyone waiting for things from me, this is why: my brain has been consumed by John Boorman and Excalibur, both of them dear to my heart. The restoration is stunning, and finally presents the film in the right aspect ratio on home video... 🧵1/8

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

Trying to come up with a modern classic Christmas song. Gotta capture the nostalgia of seasons past, so I'm thinking of something like "I Remember When Santa Had 10 Fingers" or "O Holy Fuck, That's What That Costs Now?"

I already have all four of Erin's zines and I just ordered this bundle. It's a great deal and I want to have reading copies as well as clean backup copies in case something happens to those. (Looking at you barfing cat.) My favorite is whichever one I happen to be reading at the moment.
Just in time for Black Friday! 📚

@raquelstecher.bsky.social Happy Belated Birthday, Raquel! I hope the day was filled with movies, books, movies about books and books about movies. And a nice cocktail or two.

“This new restoration finally allows modern audiences to see this classic as it would have been enjoyed by audiences at the time of its release: starting with the final reel, then a news report about cycling, a comedy short about keeping chickens, a cartoon, and then the first part of the film.”

I’ve ordered a few things from Richard over the years and everything about them is a delight, even down to the packing material. I hesitated posting about this Professionally Defaced book because they are very limited and I didn’t want one of you weasels getting one before I ordered my own copy.

Ahead of Krampusnacht, the next batch of Professionally Defaced copies of Tales Accursed (going live on Friday) will include five gold leaf'd Krampus heads...

I was looking for something to listen to and Bajour came up in a list of Broadway musicals. I vaguely remember @bcdreyer.social talking about it so I thought I’d give it a listen. Twenty seconds into the first song I realized he said it was a musical that will never get a revival. Boy, was he right.
