I am repulsed yet intrigued. I can’t wait for Rebecca’s report on the book printed with garlic aioli-infused ink.

I love book gimmicks so much I once curated an exhibition called “Death By Gimmick!” so of course I had to order this mayonnaise-sponsored stinky tome. I will follow up with an assessment when I get it.
Book “The Prim Blood and Bone” by Jennifer Armentrout next to a bottle of Hellmann’s Garlic aioli. Bookplate with Hellmann’s logo. This Vampyr-repelling special edition of The Primal of Blood and Bone was printed using garlic aioli infused ink. It was meticulously crafted to repel nocturnal nibblers, specifically the ugly, creepy kind.

Happy Thanksgiving, Sarah! The gang and I will be stopping by later to sing some songs and eat pumpkin cheesecake.
A scene from the 1936 movie Pennies from Heaven. The still shows Donald Meek, Bing Crosby and Edith Fellows standing on a porch.

I have too many DVDs as it is. If I enter and win, will you take some off my hands instead of sending me more?

I think you’ll like the Gambon one. The Atkinson feels a bit like stunt casting but it’s worth watching. It’s very well produced.

There are a few Maigret shows out there. The series with Michael Gambon is my favorite. There is also one with Rowan Atkinson, where he is trying so hard to not be Mr. Bean that it’s distracting.
Michael Gambon as the Grench detective Maigret.

@jaxbra.bsky.social We’re watching the new Maigret on the PBS app. It’s a tad dour but not bad. The main problem is the lead. He’s young, doesn’t wear a hat or smoke a pipe. He’s not Maigret, he’s a guy who is named Maigret, if that makes sense. Still, it’ll do until the actors and autistics return.

Found the loveliest ring in a second-hand shop earlier, nice violet-blue, slid perfectly around my scrawny index finger. Didn’t bring it home because it’s October, nearing Halloween, and I know exactly what happens when you buy a second-hand ring.

My wife is a psychotherapist and one of her advisors worked at the institution where Gein was incarcerated. She said he was quiet, very shy and was the institution’s barber.

When my nephew was around 10, he loved movies with moderately gory monsters but he was terrified of vampires. It turns out the reason was a vampire looked like an ordinary person and you couldn’t tell they were a monster until it was too late.
