i think there's a fundamental difference between an e-sport game and a competitive one: e-sports demand clarity of interaction for the benefit of spectators; "every match a trailer" game design, competitive games thrive on jank and obscure interactions

Seeing game devs take a "the customer is always right" approach to feedback is so sad because like I get it from a PR perspective, but...

1) The customer is always wrong

2) Your customers are gamers, so they're twice as wrong

the way i explain pokemon tcg to magic players is by describing it as "vintage but you end your turn by attacking with a serra angel"

it's so funny how even in modern pokemon you can easily see every card in your deck within 2 or 3 turns

today's coworker had kindergarteners watch 15 minutes of kingdom hearts cutscenes bc she typed in "toy story 3 full movie". she cleaned the entire classroom with no reaction to sora being on the tv and only switched it once she was done. which was also right after the word 'xehanort' was said
