Damn this one hurts. RIP to the absolute legend that is Drew Struzan. This man created the most iconic movie posters of all time. To me he was the John Williams of movie art, images that shaped my childhood. As a kid I didn't know they were paintings at first, I thought they were real!

Congratulations and keep coming back!

Same here! I've been sober 14 years and was very vocal about it online. Because of that, people felt comfortable reaching out to me when they thought they might have a problem and now some of them are also sober! Its a great feeling knowing I helped in some way and fuels my sobriety even more

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I share the general feeling about how movies often looked then vs. now, but worth noting The Addams Family movies also had the added benefit of being directed by someone who first found success as a fantastic cinematographer.

Watching The Addams Family. Films just don't look like this anymore and it sucks. Every single set is sublime, the lens choices where so much is in focus so you can enjoy the details vs modern shit being soft focus CG shite....

Not even discussing the audio or acting 😭

Don't worry, American culture was also threatened by the ninja turtles based on nothing but "New is bad, old is good"
An ad with classic cartoon characters Fred Flintstone, Dennis the Menace, and Woody Woodpecker with the caption "Turtles Come And Turtles Go, But We Go On Forever"

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
