Some of you might know I'm trying to learn Spanish. My teacher says that keeping a journal is a good idea. Having to write stuff down helps with memory and recall.

As a lazy alternative I've decided to use Bluesky for this. If you speak Spanish or are learning, feel free to follow @es.seand.me.uk

This budget is a bit like Christmas. A bit costly, but really the worst thing was the fact that people wouldn't fuck up about it for weeks beforehand.

What I'd like to see at tomorrow's budget is to see the return of the tradition of the chancellor having booze while presenting it.

I mentioned something with pomegranate seeds to a Spanish person, and they said "so, just pomegranate", which when you think about it makes sense. We don't say "orange flesh" or "banana pulp".

For those of you in the UK, especially if you are a UK citizen, can you please take part in the consultation on changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain (Settlement) that were just proposed by the UK government. We need as many people as possible to reject these proposals. www.gov.uk/government/c...

This! When you start to get on a bit, the possibility of early retirement is more of a morale booster than luxury items such as a big house, fancy car etc.
If there is only one piece of advice I can give you younglings from the lofty heights of my advanced old age, it's this: put as much money as you can into a pension from as early an age as possible. Your 50s and 60s arrive much quicker than you think.

Lead story: Some Scottish footballers will play football in North America next year.

Story #2: Russian spy ship is on the edge of UK waters north of Scotland and has pointed lasers at pilots of surveillance aircraft monitoring its activities.

Does anyone in my social media bubble have any personal experience of/recommendations for/warnings about storage companies?

A family member is moving, but doesn’t know where yet. They will need to store some furniture until they get a new place sorted out.

TIA!

It's this time of the year again!
I'd say 90% of the time snow is predicted in a weather forecast here, it doesn't appear. I don't know if it is because we have a different micro-climate or because they are shit-scared of snow appearing without them having warned anyone.

Another good reason to prefer Android, tbh. Bit weird to frame this as "humiliating" if a phone thief doesn't want your Android device. I'd call that a good thing, tbh.

If part of your stated aims on migration is to encourage migrants to integrate with life in the UK, telling them to fuck off at a moment's notice because there's been a change in their country of origin seems a touch counter-productive

The former president of the Valencia region on whether he left lunch (yes, lunch) at 6:33pm or 7:07pm the day of the horrible floods last year.

There are big mistakes to point to, but the amazing part for us guiris is that leaving lunch at 6:30 or even 7:00 is not all that extraordinary.
