This article in The Age today explores the depressive and vulnerable slump many authors enter when their book goes out into the world. I dare say these emotions extend to writers of smaller works as well.

Your new book is out! (And now you feel like a ‘first-class numpty’)
The long-awaited moment of publication can bring emptiness, anxiety and a surprising lack of fanfare.

♟️🎲 I love #Tsuro! It's such a simple game that can be played as causally or seriously as you'd like. 2-8 players and usually quick. It's been around for two decades!

While it's good to hear, how much do you want to bet that one news group decided to not bow down to the demands of thw government and others followed suit because they didn't want their competition to have the scoop?

A list of the top sold books for each year of existence. (Or top new release book of that year?)
You can keep adding new ones every year.
If cost isn't an issue, a shelf that contains said books.

Currently reading, The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers. Not sure if I like it or not. 🤔 Have about 1/3 to go.

💙📚Fun, light read. Suspension of disbelief of the competency of the competitors given thier ages, the number of competitors & the amount of control the spectators of the competition.
Enjoyed Oceans 11 or Leverage? Then there's a good chance you'll like this.

The best can play. Only one will win.
"A high-octane thriller" - Alex Aster

Red cover. Title is tilting slightly up. Black text, outlined in what is meant to be a golden silver shine. A black guy runs to the left above the title. A black gal runs to the right under the title.

Lunari, the youngest of my three, has been caught playing with a very small rock that gor in my shoe one day. I only took it away as I was afraid she would swallow it accidentally due to it's size. Cats will play with whatever strikes their fancy.

When people tell me folks on SNAP should instead rely on their local community food bank they should keep in mind the federal assistance to food banks was cut. This hurt not only people who got the food, it hurts the suppliers who previously received payment for it.
josesepulveda.bsky.social
The cuts amounted to $500 million in funds. Thousands of planned deliveries were canceled without warning in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

The #USDA did not respond to questions or requests for comment.

Trump Canceled 94 Million Pounds of Food Aid. Here’s What Never Arrived.
ProPublica obtained records from the Department of Agriculture that detail the millions of pounds of food, down to the number of eggs, that never reached food banks because of the administration’s cut...

My spouse loves that book! He says it can a bit of a slogan at times. It's still really good. 🤔 Maybe I'll give it a try.

An occasional echo chamber can be nice but you really have to work at it for that to happen. And very specific topics. Like, does pineapple belong on pizza? which is better, dark or milk chocolate? Cats or dogs?

WTF? I love garlic in food. I don't want to smell it while reading. Can you imagine that sitting on your shelf next to all your other books? No thank you.

You can thank my spouse for this one! He came up with it after a bit. I thought of Loki and Coyote. Both being gods didn't feel that cancer should be perceived as being god-like powerful.

The post below is my most viral post on any platform & it’s the one I’m most proud of because it showed me #BlueSky was caring, inclusive, & happy to promote #Accessibility.
I posted it shortly after joining BlueSky & its popularity made me feel all fuzzy inside.

Please share it again.😎

I appreciate all of you who use the Alt-text description for the images you post. As a blind dude I feel so much more included here.

For those of you who forget:
Did you know there’s a reminder in Settings/Accessibility to toggle on & then it won’t let you post image without Alt-text.

Thanks 🙏😎

I second recommending this one! The audio book is wonderful. (I got mine on Libro)
And if you liked this one, I recommend The Like Eaters by Zoé Schlanger.

I liked Witch's Heart! I took it with me to read on a cruise.

Rare? Hardly. When I am engrossed in a book I'm not going to notice anything. Sight, sounds, hunger... nothing else matters but reading.

I like this idea. Pair your reading with a drink or snack as appropriate. ☕️🍪🍵

I agree with the last photo! Too many books on the TBR is a wonderful problem to have. 😂
