!!!!!!!!! I definitely take issue with that assessment, *but* in fairness I've never had any interest in seeing Saw.

what made it extraordinary to me — especially at that time — was just how beautiful the gore was, aesthetically. I never knew gore could be so poetic.

my relationship to Athens, Ohio is COMPLICATED but my relationship to The Athena is VERY straightforward, independent movie theater since 1915 and a gem for so many reasons.

this ad is one:

an earnestly but sloppily put-together flyer advertising the movies currently playing at The Athena with the explanation, "Our graphic designer just left, we're doing our best :) come see movies plz"
