When fantasy authors use the word "codex" in a setting that also has books, it irks me. Especially because they often mean a filing system or proto-computer. I'm aware that not everyone knows "codex" is the correct term for a stack of papers bound together but it irks me to see it so badly misused.

Full Disclosure: I still rock my Slytherin shit discreetly but mostly because of the fandom’s takes on Salazar’s ideologies - not JKs. Because the fans presented an idea that made him a Moorish Wizard that survived the Crusades and wanted to build a sanctuary for his people and it STUCK with me.

Like I enjoyed The Magicians because it spoke to the type of Magical Academia I can vibe with: our world but with a thinly veiled Magical underbelly and all of the same problems but MAGICAL and also EXPLICIT AF.
