At the MIA for some stress relief, when I overheard an old white guy reprimanded by an employee for touching an Egyptian hieroglyphic tablet. His response: “I didn’t know anyone was looking”.

He knew not to touch, he just didn’t think he’d get caught.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

🚨 SAVE THE DATE: OCTOBER 18.

Millions of Americans took to the streets in June to drown out Trump’s birthday parade.

As Trump’s regime escalates his authoritarian power grab, we’re gathering again on 10/18 for a nationwide day of peaceful protests to say NO KINGS: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i...

My team at the Crowd Counting Consortium (@djpressman.bsky.social, Soha Hammam, & Chris Shay) has finalized our participation estimates for No Kings Day on 6/14. Here are five key takeaways🧵:
New data shows No Kings was one of the largest days of protest in US history
The historic number of No Kings protesters and their expansive geographic spread are signs of a growing and durable pro-democracy movement.

When critical race theorists point out that “neutrality” and “objectivity” are often a thin veneer for white supremacy, they mean stuff like this.
An opinion writer is not allowed to criticize the paper on social media for using a Nazi source but the reporter who worked with the Nazi source was free to leave a long social media trail being buddy-buddy with the Nazi in public

i can't even imagine the freakout if like mamdani or ilhan omar had ever refered to lenders as "shylocks." but unlike them, trump actually has a very long history of making disparaging remarks about jews
Will Meet The Press ask random other white politicians to condemn Trump's antisemitic language this weekend? Or does that only apply to Mamdani?
"No death tax, no estate tax, no going to the banks and borrowing from, in some cases, a fine banker. And in some cases, shylocks and bad people."

it was called “the politics of families, sex, and marriage” but it should have been called “unpacking american exceptionalism”

If any people outside the U.S. still feel compelled to criticize Americans for not waking up fast enough (stop), we're fighting multiple fronts here, one of which is against the very media institution that is *supposed* to be on the side of truth and the people.
No worries, guys, they moved coverage of 5 million people marching in every American city down even further to make room for the president's birthday parade that nobody went to.

YES. If you mask everywhere- or at least in the most crowded places that people cannot avoid, like stores- then it places masks in the category of Everyday Clothing. It makes it SO much harder to ban when at least a decent chunk of people wear them.
it is beyond time to see your own complicity in the present moment: when you only mask at protests & never even consider doing so in the grocery store, pharmacy, on public transit, you contribute to a social climate able to criminalize protective tools. CHOOSE SOLIDARITY, prevent infection, mask up.
resist mainstreaming the far right & their ideals with choices you make every day—an easy one is to wear a respirator in, at the very least, public indoor spaces.

needless spread of novel & thought-to-be-gone pathogens has been key to the eugenicists playbook. prevent it.
