Your regular reminder that it is not hyperbole to say that Republicans do not care if you live or die, and will proactively advance measures to ensure the latter.

There will be a reckoning of one stripe or another for these evil evil motherfuckers.

“Officials said that hundreds of people were at the bar when the shooting happened, and multiple victims and witnesses ran to nearby businesses to escape the gunfire.
At least four people were pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were transported to hospitals in critical condition.”

I’ve been away from this app for a week and 1/2 for some work and personal shit and coming back in tonight it’s like walking into a fucking buzzsaw. There really should be some kind of online merge lane or something so I can get a minute to pick up speed with the traffic

What was all that we’ve been hearing about “parents’ rights” again?
caitlindeangelis.bsky.social
According the article, the Everett Police still have not told the parents why they arrested their 13-year-old child, nor why they handed him over to ICE while his parents waited in the station to pick him up.

This seems like a persistent problem--it feels like what really happened to LA and DC never fully got through, is already in the process of being forgotten, and now lots of people seem only vaguely aware of Chicago's situation. How do we get more people to care before it shows up at their doorsteps?
peoplesfabric.com
So many people i talk to mention that their out-of-state friends or family have heard little to nothing about what’s going on in Chicago.

Some viral stories like the South Shore apartments raid or Rev. Black getting shot break through but the persistent Fed violence in the streets in lost.

The @nytimes.com shamefully insists on "both sides" rather than reality of #Portland /Chicago/LA (NO credible reason for POTUS to send the Natl Guard - against the wishes of govs) vs. POTUS and GOP elected propaganda.

Again, the parallels practically jump off the screen. Qatar plane, crypto, etc ring any bells?

"Mussert was arrested, tried for treason, and executed. His legacy is one of betrayal...willingness to sacrifice his country’s sovereignty for personal ambition and ideological alignment with the Nazis."

ICE Collaborator parallels-

"Quisling’s regime facilitated the deportation of Norwegian Jews to concentration camps and suppressed resistance movements... earned him infamy, and after the war, he was tried for treason and executed. His name endures as a term for traitors worldwide..."

I talk about and call out our epoch's Collaborators quite a bit and know it can sound trite coming across on social, so let's see the historical parallels about who these maga fascist Collaborators are and what they are capable of.

🧵
Vidkun Quisling | Holocaust Encyclopedia
Vidkun Quisling, Minister President of Norway from 1942 to 1945, was a Norwegian fascist and Nazi collaborator. His last name has come to mean “traitor” or “collaborator.”

This is how it’s done. I keep saying this: if you’re running for national office right now, this is the platform. These tactics are not popular and will not be protected by a majority in the future.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

This is why the work of community watch groups is so important. It's not just capturing the faces of ICE agents, but also their vehicles. In Massachusetts we are already seeing them adapt and change their tactics in response to the work of community groups.
schnorkles.bsky.social
One of the things that I think the internal politics of ICE/CBP is probably grappling with and didn't quite get when all this kicked off is that the fact that the surveillance state could be turned back on the secret police in a way that makes it very hard for anything they do to be ignored.
