I gave my heart and soul to that place. Built entire sections for journalists pushed out of their home countries.

When the writer I hired, Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by Saudi Arabia, they paraded me around as a symbol for press freedom.

I put MY LIFE on the line to defend journalism and WaPo.
weird that neither of these articles two main stories decrying censorship mention WaPo's firing of @karenattiah.bsky.social I guess democracy really does die in darkness

It’s going to break your heart how many people you know, love, and respect will turn out to be cowards. Prepare yourself as best you can. You are not alone, but you are your own center. Be a strong center.
I have read many Indigenous women (to the continent that Handmaid's Tale was written) saying the same thing.

It becomes obvious once you've spent the time to think about it.

Not having to think about or already be aware of it is one of the obvious privileges Whiteness is granted.

With everything going on in the US, it feels like a good time to remind everyone that the only real difference between fascism and colonialism is whether or not it's used against white people.
I am glad this is being shared...

The censorship with Jimmy Kimmel fits neatly into the settler-colonial left-right debate of USA&Canada -- so is safe to talk about.

Blind loyalty to settler-colonial ideology that exists across that left-right spectrum within USA&Canada can't be questioned.
This is the only non-boring kind of discourse around this thing. Everything else is kind of like the January 6 nonsense, just noise and inconsequential culture war. "But it sets this and that precedent!" Not really. It's just the reform/reaction cycle. We've seen worse before.
All this outpouring for Jimmy Kimmel is performed by the same group who disregarded ppl’s right to publicly oppose a genocide. I didn’t see this much support for the students protesting genocide

They can't figure why Canadians don't want to go to Plattsburgh, NY to celebrate the first time USA tried to make Canada (Upper Canada now Ontario), the 51st state! Their pride is our disgust. #Never51 #BoycottUSA

Last week, the federal government upheld a ruling by the CRTC that existing fibre optic infrastructure must be shared with resellers in much the same way as cable and phone lines have for many years. The big telecom companies are mad, and I hope we make them a whole lot madder still. It is time f...

If it wasn't clear before, do you see it now? US is rUSsia.
When will people revolt?

Once a party has a US-style leadership convention, rather than having caucus decide leaders, it becomes merely a corporation you can "vote" for instead of voting for a person.

So much of what is wrong with the #NDP relates to top-down corporate culture.
Leadership by Caucus
Every pundit and their sibling will write about the Liberal leadership race over the next few weeks, but few will say what truly needs to be said: it is the wrong way to choose a national party leader...

Can we call it a genocide now?

I don't think this is about individuals. Canada has a Rape Culture.

I wish it wasn't seen as a male-vs-female thing, as it is cultural.

"I can not share how many of the females I knew had told me stories of rape and other sexual violence committed against them."

"I am glad to be from and still at this place -- but I'm not proud of "Canada", the current brand of what was more honestly called the "Dominion of Canada" at my birth and in my youth."
"I wish people thought of Canada and the USA as a set of Governments/institutions, and not believe those are names of places or groups of people."
"Or the long-standing terrorist groups that are now controlling the Israel government. Prior to the "magic wand" waived by what is now WEOG in the UN in 1948 these were even recognized as terrorist groups. There is so much gerrymandering of timelines to try to sell specific narratives.

I am hearing the "one network, one stream".

Is this about other radio stations, or is this about the missing podcast feed?

www.610cktb.com still says "coming soon", and #OneDishOneMic is no longer listed as a podcast on www.iheart.com/podcast/

I texted:

"Hamas is a terrorist groups created in response to Irgun/Likud which is a much longer standing series of terrorist groups. Any mention of Hamas that doesn't also mention Likud is propaganda."

Canada needs to move past subjective recognition of terrorism and genocide.
