Seeing a comment online (particularly for genre shows with fandoms, like Start Trek), usually found attached to an episode review, that begin "As a real fan" and you just *know* it's one to skip right past.

Almost 100% certainty that douchery of the highest order is ahead.

Also: me.

(Do not count the number of notepads I have on this desk, nor the number of excuses I have for said number 👀)

My predecessor was a muppet.

Putting "British Pounds" in the field "Currency Code" and "GBP" in the field "Currency Name" is a new low. Even for him.

Guess how much fun my day's been....? 🤬

I've read every single one of these. They are, without exception, awesome.

It's cold, dark and damp outside now. The perfect time to cosy up and start working your way through this collection 👍

Justin T. Lee, the animator, quickly followed it up with an equally brilliant Voyager animation. He captured the Filmation TAS style perfectly! /2

Actual out loud snort of laughter at this one 😂

After today, I needed that, thank you @rekdt.com ☺️
After getting fired from ungrateful AWS and ungrateful Azure for their outages allegedly due to my vibecoded DNS to IPv6, happy to announce my first day at Cloudflare

Cloudflare recognizes the value of vibe coding and I just force pushed my first 1m changes

Now off to coffee

And today consisted of a lift-shift of code from a legacy netfx windows service, dropping it into a new ASP.NET Core API project and containerising it.

That means the frontend is getting shinier *and* the backend is now being dragged (kicking and screaming..) into the 21st century.

Progress 👍🎉
Adding functionality to an incredibly old app (AngularJS, yes, with the "JS") has made for a fun few weeks.

The whole app's written in JavaScript and this was a good excuse to add TypeScript to the toolchain and write all the new bits in that. Every cloud, eh....!

As happens every time this comes up as #RecipeOfTheDay, this is going on the menu for Friday. It's so easy to make and more than worth the (small!) effort required.

Also - I use mint sauce as a 1-1 replacement for dried mint; it works a treat!
#RecipeOfTheDay is Pappardelle with Lamb Ragù. It’s a big favourite on nigella.com, as you can see by the comments below the recipe, one of which being “I couldn't have believed anything so delicious could be so easy!” My heart is gladdened and grateful. www.nigella.com/recipes/papp...
Pappardelle With Lamb Ragu
‘Ragout’ is French, ‘ragù’ Italian, and this meat sauce is certainly inspired by the Sicilian combination of sweet lamb, dried wild mint and crushed chilli flakes, though I’ve added an Anglo note with...

The govt should find 100 small things that piss people off & fix em, such as…

Ta to Politico for the vid, at its Labour fringe event, I explained that as big changes take time, govts should also have a team focused on small winnable change.

What little fixes'd you want?

I slept through my alarm this morning 🤬

I won't be taking questions about just how late I was awake because I couldn't put this book down 👀

It's *still* got that little orange sticker, nearly a week after publication, with good reason
New book out accompanied by that little orange sticker. I know it’s not the most important thing, but it’s nice to know that after nearly 30 books, people still buy my work.

I cook, a lot, and most recipes that I put together (eventually) end up on my recipe blog @ robertwray.co.uk/recipes

Running's something I took up mid-2020 that helped me to shift about 20kg of weight and dramatically improve my health and fitness levels.

That'll do as a whistlestop intro...!

Outside of work, running, cooking and reading are my main vices.

I've got over 300 books yet to read on my Kindle. I'm still not sure how that happened; hopefully at least a quarter of them are samples but I can't bring myself to look.
The campervan company (www.ultravans.co.uk) is by far the most challenging/interesting of the two. My other half built us a campervan late in the COVID era, got the bug for it, binned off a career in IT and went full-time van constructing.

Small businesses have challenges, but boy it's a ride!

Professionally, I wear two hats.

By day I'm Head of Development (or that's how my boss tends to introduce me!) for a small Foreign Exchange company.

By night I'm Finance Director for a four year old Campervan conversion company - the A-level in Accounting is finally finding a use.
* taps mic *

Is this thing on? Finally took the time to make the move from the other place as it's time I got a bit more "back out there" and the other place doesn't look like somewhere I want to be anymore!

Perhaps I should (re)-introduce myself....
