INCOMING CANON FIRE!

A deep dive into the ABSOLUM, the latest from the Streets of Rage 4 team!

I dig into how it evolves the arcade spirit of games like Capcom's Dungeons and Dragons beat-em-ups, its remix of fantasy tropes, and even its take on gender and identity.

055: Absolum brings the arcade spirit of its fantasy inspirations roaring into the modern age
The latest from Guard Crush Games, one of the main developers on Streets of Rage 4, Absolum takes plenty from their work on SEGA’s brawler. The skeleton of the game can be seen in their experiments...

According to Wikipedia, today is the 20th anniversary of The 1UP Show. I choose to believe this is true.

I miss this work. More, I miss my old coworkers. Still the best and most fun job I ever had.

I’ll let Jane and Eric’s killer tune race through my mind today.

This monday we launched Circuits, designed by Jacob Land, on Puzzmo ( www.puzzmo.com/play/circuits/ ). Circuits is an amazing game that was first shared with me by Josh Wardle. As soon as I played it I knew that Puzzmo would be perfect to help get the news out about this incredible game.

new article! the copied cathedral continues into BRANCH B. drakengard 2 is The Bad One: an infamous botch-job consigned to the scrapheap of history. that's a shame, because this game is messier, weirder, and a lot more interesting than it ever really gets credit for.

BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.

Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Shout out to the amazing community, my fellow mods, and the great friends I have because of a website. About video games.

There weren't enough jobs for people before. There aren't enough jobs for people now. We are just going to lose dozens of dozens of people who thoughtfully cover, critique, and investigate the video game industry forever. It is a profound loss that will not be recovered.
