again. just watch the Folding Ideas video on NFTs and GME. Dan Olson didn’t predict this, but it’s the latest iteration of the same underlying problem. Drew Gooden has a great video touching on this. Ditto Nakey Jakey. I’m sure others, but those are just the ones I know about

my “AI is over” anecdote is that my wife was hired over the summer to write scripts for a big tech company explaining how to use their AI tools and after many rounds of revisions, the latest notes said “we’re finding a lot of AI fatigue among our users” and to remove all references to AI

When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

I was worried that the quality of the food at Paul’s Place on Los Al Blvd was just idiot kid tastebuds and a lot of nostalgia and nope. nope. nope. best cheeseburger and fried zucchini I’ve had since - well - the last time I ate at Paul’s.

which hasn’t changed at all since 1996.

Admiral Bradley needs to go to prison for a long time too.

everyone in that chain of command. down to the jock who pulled the trigger.

if you think that’s not necessary or just, congratulations, you just rejected the punishment and deterrence theories of criminal justice/incarceration.
How low we have sunk as a country. The US Department of Defense is now run by a rabid war criminal.

Ordering the execution of helpless survivors of an attack is ALWAYS a war crime, whether they civilian or military.

Pure, mindless, barbarism.

Northwestern’s leaders will likely try to justify their choice to appease fascist extortion with some BS about needing to help researchers get federal funds that were illegally withheld, so it’s important to note that virtually all of the researchers said not to.
So apparently the administrators at Northwestern have caved to the extortionist demands of the Feds. Faculty voted 595-4 AGAINST this measure.

(3/4) By the time I’d finished, I had become absolutely fascinated by these bizarre, ancient animals.
Dinosaurs get all the attention (and yeah, they are cool) but it’s worth remembering that the story of prehistoric life is much richer and more complex.

If your admin says "but we need to prepare students for AI-driven careers," you can calmly say no. Reiterate that AI-integration is the result of wild capitalist greed, the technologies themselves aren't "generative" or useful in most careers, and students should focus on process-based learning.
