so months after the original proscription, has anyone revealed any actually good reasons to describe anything they did as 'terrorism'? i was assured by very smart people that intel to that effect will no doubt be made available, because of course i should just trust the government on this
"I myself have publicly advocated the use of direct action, including property sabotage, in the cause of climate justice. It stands to reason that I should support the same range of tactics in the effort to prevent genocide."

A bunch of hardcore bigots mostly in the US drew up a plan to turn trans people from our neighbours with normal human rights into a "controversy", invented some "feminist" and "medical" front outfits, and Jay nearly lost access to his existing healthcare under the NHS. Wake up and smell the scam.
Three weeks ago I marked nine years on Testosterone.

I didn't celebrate it then because I was in the middle of a multi-month battle to be allowed to stay on it, despite not producing my own hormones and simply wanting to remain on the exact prescription I'd had for nine years without any problems.

I see enterprising members of the public are correctly interpreting the neo-reactionary movement as basically a shitehawk’s charter
A bank customer who claimed he has a “phobia” of materials related to Pride has lost a case against NatWest in which he alleged a display in one of its branches caused him “severe psychological distress”.

My nephew: Are you a girl or a boy?
Me: a boy, I used to look more like a girl but then I turned into a boy
Nephew: How???
Me: I went to the doctor and they gave me some medicine
Nephew: …
Nephew, bragging now: I’M a boy and I didn’t even HAVE to go to the doctor

One of the signs that our media is, in general, disgusting & corrupt, is its total inability to consider that any political action is about anything other than electoral advantage to the party in question, which they want for the sake of power alone. They will not conceive of wanting to govern well.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

The road I live on has a direct route onto the closed (now just heavily restricted) section of path, and is being signed as a diversion around it (via a route onto a terrifying roundabout). No notification that cyclists and pedestrians would struggle to leave for work or school now.
Ferry Road Path CLOSED to pedestrians and cyclists from today to 16 January for installation of a security fence at Leonardo. TTRO closure order was signed on Wednesday with the below diversion: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/fi... #EdTravCyc @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

If you think this is good: I work in a care home and are you up for a 12 hour overnight care shift on minimum wage? Because 80% of our night shift are immigrants.
Net migration to the UK dropped sharply to 204,000 in the year to June, new figures show

That's a drop from 649,000 in the year to June 2024, and a drop of nearly 80% from the peak in 2023

Announced while everyone's reacting to the budget, Labour are backtracking from their already weak position on new fossil fuel extraction.

Wildly irresponsible in the face of the climate emergency.

I spent most of Tuesday following the "Singing Street" around to take photos of the filming locations. It was very hard not to be struck by streets that were once playgrounds now being car parks. In other places there is still a bustle of life, but it is now tourists playing, not skipping girls

I have three thoughts on the Budget: 1) EVs use roads, so should pay something to use them, and the fact that the existing fuel duty/road tax system is shite doesn’t somehow create an exception for them; 2) gambling firms moaning can fuck off into the sun, we should bankrupt the cunts;

I think Sheriff Principal N A Ross may have enjoyed writing this opinion.

"How sensory stimulation is related to religious belief is not explained. No medical diagnosis is offered, or explanation how religious belief is affected by gaudy colours."
In a controversial judgment, the Sheriff Appeal Court in Edinburgh has ruled that Martin Luther was the harbinger of neurotypicality.

Are asylum seekers people, though, according to Starmer?

Also, when he was growing up, "landline" wasn't a word. It was "the phone".
One to bookmark. His presence on social media seems all a bit leaden.

They did this in a year when they had accepted the majority of asylum claims by people coming from Rwanda.
Another chilling aspect... The Tories simply passed a law declaring Rwanda "safe".

Do we really trust that this govt or the next won't resort to similar tactics if this finds them politically convenient?

Who looks at the phrase "Today becoming a refugee equals a lifetime of protection in Britain" and thinks "yeah that's bad, let's protect people less"? Shabana fucking Mahmood, apparently.

Presenter used "forced back to their home country as soon as it becomes safe"

That repeats ugly, unrealistic deportation fantasies from Home Office staff: obvs not what could actually happen
