don't think i've plugged #gomiasto in a while, not on here anyway. it's A FUN GAME where you have to guess a place based on distance and direction. there's a uk version, as well as usa, and manchester metrolink, which is far too difficult to be fun. rlychrisg.github.io/GoMiasto/
a screen shot of go miasto a game i made. it's a silhouette of the uk with a few map markers dotted around the west midlands, with a table of guesses underneath which are (in chronological order) leeds, 60 miles with an arrow pointing south west, bristol, 108 miles north, birmingham 38 miles north, chester 32 miles south east and coventry 50 miles north west. the answer is still unknown.

it's such a short term strategy, that the tories dragged on for 14 years. all you can really do at that point is say "guys, there's no dragon". but nope, with 5 years left in govt, they have chosen to drag it out a little longer. because it might keep gbnews quiet. which it definitely won't.

one thing i can't understand with labour's response to the benefit scaremongering, is rather than go with the truth they've decided to promise to slay the imaginary dragon. i know a lot of people are shouting about this dragon, but if you promise to slay it, you're gonna need a dragon eventually.

It’s funny how the old media depiction of Nazis was always that they’re evil but dignified gentleman and now they’re openly just like “Hello. I’m the Anime Pedophile”

If you're not old enough to remember: the last time we had a Labour government, they sacked a scientific advisor for, ugh ... advising them on the science.

"I don't hear her talking about women's rights, I just hear her talking about trans people." absolutely spot on about Rowling.

Carole Malone, "Youu can't say what women's rights are because you're not a woman"

Zack Polanski, "You're not trans are you. We can all say you're not that thing so you can't have an opinion" 🔥

"You can still have an opinion from listening to people"

I support animal rights—do I look like a fucking alpaca?!

I’m a woman, and Carole Malone does not speak for me.

Yeah, Your Party have comprehensively screwed themselves. Now they're just wasting everyone's time and energy.

Seen two separate posts today, from people claiming to be socialists, accusing Zack Polanski of being "propped up by the establishment" to effectively torpedo the chances of 'Your Party' succeeding. I was hopeful about them initially, but i'd politely suggest they did a good job of that themselves.

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

Tiny 'making of' vid here - youtu.be/_2RacX9DgWM...
Three images showing photographers in a studio, standing around a black curtained area with a projector and a 'Windows' logo etched onto a glass pane. The lower image shows a version of the iconic blue windows background, with blue lasers outlining and passing through an angled Windows logos against a dark background.

this isn't the sort of revelation that saves lives but i think quote posts on social media should have the quote on the top rather than the bottom. that way, you see the quote first, and maybe you don't give a shit about the context somebody else has sellotaped to it.

Graham Linehan is the Miles Davis of getting mad at things that aren't real, the greatest to ever do it.

i was a bit put upon by this, given i'm such a fan of pineapples, but on some consideration i have to admit there's much more preparation involved. you can't just grab a pineapple on a bike ride. i think i agree. love it when somebody can change my mind on something i care deeply about.

at this point nobody is "enabling reform" more than the labour govt. they've chosen to fight the next election on nigel farage's terms. they've chosen to validate his scaremongering, knowing full well they could never compete with his measures.

Al Jazeera is doing videos of the Palestinian releases and they're heart wrenching. One man was detained for over a year and was released to find out that Israel had killed his two kids. The youngest was three. Her birthday would've been on Saturday. He'd made a small bracelet for her in prison.

There is a silent "conservative" in the spelling of "free speech".
goodlawproject.org
Tl;Dr: lots of supposed free speech, anti cancel culture, activists are travelling to Oxford to try and cancel George Abaraonye for exercising his free speech.

there are entire policy areas - immigration, welfare, and now it seems even basic human rights for trans people, where restrictions and pointless hoops can be put in place to satisfy an irrational mindset among some voters. and it's never enough. every new barrier or punishment is just forgotten.
reallychris.bsky.social
and by the time reform get in, everybody will memory hole whatever restrictions and hoops to jump through that labour put in place.
