The Constitution doesn’t *grant* fundamental rights—it *recognizes* their divinely-ordained pre-existence for all human beings. A federal judge certainly knows this.

At best, Amul Thapar has recklessly misrepresented the Constitution.

A key point in my book is that many sheriffs, in particular, believe that they are doing their job for a higher power. Law Enforcement Baronial Class -- not just a job, but a calling.

So it’s actually “revved up like a deuce” (meaning a 32 Ford) and not “wrapped up like a douche,” if you were wondering like I was.

The Illinois Bivens Act is now law - people can sue under state law for ICE’s constitutional violations. Which state is next? When the feds fall down on their obligations to protect people’s rights, it is time for states to step up.

Lawyer here. Friendly legal advice: if your homeowner’s insurance company discovers you failed to disclose a wild cat lives in your home, and that wild cat eats a guest’s face, your policy won’t cover it.
just watched a few dozen videos from the TikTok account of the people who own a caracal cat which very clearly should not be a pet and wants to kill them (every video is like this)

If you're feeling cynical about the state of the world, consider this. Every day in almost every county in this country a small army of volunteers brings hundreds of seniors/homebound a hot meal through Meals on Wheels. For all the bad that's happening, there's a lot of good going unnoticed. 1/

Very interesting article from @reason.com penned by Davidson Heath.

I’ve long questioned the value of “statistical significance” because: (1) p-value itself is a completely arbitrary distinction; (2) it creates publication bias at the cost of knowledge; and (3) basically ignores risk vs benefit.
Rethinking statistical significance
From medicine to economics, significance testing misleads. Estimation offers a clearer way forward.

How strict can AZ cops interpret the law requiring motorists to stay right? Strict enough to let them pull someone over who is going just a hair below the speed of traffic - and then provide an excuse to ask to search the vehicle, all per AZ Supreme Court. tucson.com/news/state-r...
