Also, does anyone else think the “polarization” discourse and the “median/undecided voter” discourse are logically incompatible? EITHER voters are in increasingly disjunct groups at the extremes of a range OR there’s a crucial swath of people up for grabs in the middle, but not both.
I don’t understand why so many Democrats seem convinced that they can win over Republican voters. Those voters like Republicans and vote for them because they like their wretched policies. They do not want the diet version
