There are many serving in Trump II that don't have any real principles other than vengeance, power, and hurting others.

Then there are ideologues like Carr. In this case it is because he fundamentally disagrees with the idea of independent executive agencies & he practices that - despite the law.
LUHAN: Is the FCC an independent agency?

CARR: I think th---

L: Yes or no

C: There's a test for this in the la---

L: It's yes or no, Brendan! On your website, it simply says, man, 'the FCC is independent.' This isn't a trick question

C: The FCC is not

L: So is your website lying?

C: Possibly

Can you even imagine what the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Residence is looking like these days?
Per @garretthaake.bsky.social, the extremely tacky "presidential wall of fame" that lines the colonnade to the West Wing now has obviously-Trump-penned plaques insulting or praising the presidents.

New research shows for first time the impact influencers have on politics. Key findings:

• Creators are more impactful than traditional media
• Apolitical influencers have more impact than political ones
• Regular social media use pushes users to the right

Jeffries and Schumer can be annoying AF but no one can look back to the weeks prior to the shutdown, the plays during the shutdown, and now today and objectively say there wasn't sound strategy behind it.

Democrats have defined the debate on ACA subsidies and they have the public.
BREAKING: Four House Republicans joined Democrats to force a vote on a straight three-year extension of the enhanced Obamacare tax credits that expires Dec. 31.
Frustrated GOP moderates join Democrats to force Obamacare extension vote
Fitzpatrick said "it is House leadership themselves that have forced this outcome."

Problem of his own making but it might be!

The PEOC (presidential bunker) is right there under the footprint of this mess and it would be a coup for foreign intel services to get someone embedded with the contractors.

Idk what Wiles is up to after being silent for nearly an entire year and it’s hard to tell if it’s giving “jumping ship” or extremely clumsy burn book. Either way, this is an insane thing to say on the record if you’re ostensibly protecting the POTUS. Glad she did it!

The human cost of Trump's gutting of USAID: By the time Tor Top’s mother was sick with cholera, the nearby clinic had been shuttered for weeks. He bundled her into a canoe & paddled toward the nearest hospital, 8 hours away. Less than halfway into the journey, his mother died.

Good point and the pushback on Truth is telling. These are his strongest soldiers and even they’re aghast.

Underrated as well: a big slice of “soft” MAGA (far less online) is carefully sheltered from Trump’s poasting by the Right’s info ecosystem. This one’s going to punch through the shields.
a lot of MAGA people have basically an imagined vision of Trump and i think the Reiner post is a good example of them encountering reality for the first time

yeah honestly wild we had two generational supply shocks right next to each other, that also killed ZIRP dead
if it was just COVID I think it would have been manageable, but then it was COVID + Russia invading Ukraine and the supply shock from both countries

The reason to send migrants to GTMO is to reinforce the migrants = terrorists narrative.

The administration isn’t subtle.
An ICE Air flight carried migrants from Alexandria, LA, to the US Naval Base at Guantánamo Bay today—the first migrants held at GTMO since October 17.

“after 9/11, there was a shift in tone and substance in the media. Something monumental had changed, and the media responded.”

Sully notes that some post-9/11 shifts were bad but the point is that media reoriented in the wake. No such shift in the ongoing slide to competitive authoritarianism.

I’d really love to see someone try to explain a dummymander to Trump.
Don’t think we should dismiss the possibility that what really tanked the Indiana redistricting bill was Repubs looking at all the special election results & considering the possibility that by trying to gain two more seats they could leave themselves too exposed to a wave & end up losing 3-4 seats

Great piece by Chris Miller: “The Trump administration’s offer of economic inducements misses the point. Russia doesn’t want a business deal, it wants Ukraine: a building block of Mr. Putin’s new sphere of control and a victory that could humiliate the West and demonstrate his great-power status."
