We should be aping Mamdani not the 1920s but that points to a class based coalition that pays due attention to identity and understands that "the class" is not mostly semiskilled male physical labourers any more, if it ever was, it's not Shipyards enough for some people.

#SundayPixBelovedCritters The trouble with being a ladybird friendly house is that they need to hibernate & they do it in the cracks & gaps of the window frames. In the winter it's difficult to open windows cuz they all drop in or wake up & crawl inside! These are actually quite small groups.

I'd actually really like to get someone on the show to talk about spot variations, hmu if this is your speciality #ladybirds #entomology
It’s not often that I find a slightly different 7-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), so it was good to see one today with very reduced central spots! #VC40Ladybirds

Good.

@aremay.bsky.social is fond of mentioning how on the BBC's 'Brexitcast' podcast they always got faintly embarrassed about having to talk about the actual policy content. They'd always refer to it as geeky or nerdy.

Your audience is people who've downloaded a Brexit podcast.

Switched on BBC News and they’re crowing about how their investigation has led to the govt banning asylum seekers from using taxis to go see a doctor. Sick country.

It has taken over two years for @vc40ladybirds.bsky.social & I to attract another Willow Ladybird (Scymnus limbatus), an extremely small & elusive species, to the refugia we designed in an attempt to learn more about them. It has been a long wait but we found one yesterday, plus an Anthocorid bug

Every day they find new ways to be cruel to asylum seekers — the article clearly says this was to get to medical appointments! Also asylum seekers are not allowed to work, how are they going to find the money to pay for transportation if they need it? I have no words left for this government.

I don't particularly like BBC reporting on immigration, but if you have a government which is now pushing not only the most anti-immigration/asylum policies in this country for decades, but also one of the most hostile in the world, because the BBC made them then it isn't fit to govern

So how exactly are they meant to get to them? Many are placed in areas without accessible transport links. They can't afford to pay for journeys themselves because of how little support they get.
Yet again Labour choosing to pander to Reform than think of consequences.

It was good to find Rhyzobius lophanthae (Bristly Ladybird) yesterday, in its typical habitat (!!), from grasses at the base of a Salix, next to a pond! 😂 With the rather more typical 16-spot #AlwaysExpectTheUnexpected #VC40Ladybirds #MicroLadybird

It's also an example of the underlying problem being the same cruelty that they now think will solve it!

The reason for expensive taxis is that they restricted bus travel to appease the same people!
This is just revolting cruelty, done to pander to racists who won't give it the time of day. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
