Trent Reznor. I worked at shows in the early 2000s, and sat at the same table for dinner in the cramped Orpheum backstage before a NIN show. Just the kindest guy who made sure to thank each of the staff in person.

Occasionally meeting your heroes is awesome.
Who is the nicest or kindest celebrity you ever met? For me it was Wilson Cruz—I met him at a comic book convention and he was incredibly sweet and humored me while I raved about his various important roles and then he gave me a big hug. He smelled amazing, too.

This is the objectively right answer, and if you eat meat and don't stock Maldon or some other flaky salt you should. It is delightful sprinkled on meat for serving.

I also have pretzel salt in the pantry because soft pretzels whip ass and just aren't right with any other kind of salt.
Every kitchen should have Diamond Kosher Salt, impossibly-cheap iodized salt for putting in pasta water and such, and some kind of weird, flaky salt that's for when you're feeling fancy and pretty much nothing else.

I grew up watching Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers, and CPB going away is gutting. Every good thing our government does is just being stripped for parts.

Fred Rogers was a real one though - truly the best of us.
With news that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is shutting down due to Trump’s meddling, it’s worth watching Mr. Rogers testifying to the Senate about the real value of what we’ve all lost.

Saw Drive-By Truckers, Deer Tick, and Thelma and the Sleaze tonight in the woods of western MA. It was nearly 100° before the sun went down, but what a show.

Shit's fucked these days, but seeing live music with good people is a pretty decent temporary salve.

the US profoundly needs a children's rights movement. children are not property... they deserve opportunity and learning and autonomy and security.... and our country just does not acknowledge this

Mother Earth is trying to kill us, and her primary long-term weapon is gravity. If it is between you and the Earth, get the best version of it you can. Shoes, mattress, pillow, tires, chair are the big ones. The sooner you take this advice the longer you will go before you realize how good it is.
