Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

Fractures.
FWIW, RUMINT, but pretty reliable:

1. Vance key to US embrace of Russia plan on Ukraine, Rubio (and even Trump) out of the loop.

2. Vance-Rubio relations “awful.”

3. Rubio told the senators exactly what they said he told them.

4. Hegseth paranoid he’ll be shoved out, Driscoll will replace him.

TAPPER: This isn't about titillation. This is about the fact that you are the chairman of the health committee and you voted to confirm somebody that by all accounts is actually making America less healthy

I grew up in a heavily agricultural area. As a kid in the 80s, the sky would literally turn brown for much of the fall from smog from SF and ag dust and pesticides. I had regular sinus infections. But as EPA regs got stronger, the air got clearer, and I could breathe. Why go back to brown air?
Unreal: "The EPA is moving forward with approvals for pesticides containing 'forever chemicals' as an active ingredient... The agency also announced plans to relax a rule requiring companies to report products containing PFAS and has proposed weakening drinking water standards for the chemicals."

Finally something on this argument current and future school teachers keep throwing at me - no, underserved groups are not currently or ever going to benefit from LLMs.

Yep, one of the biggest drivers of the elite panic around “wokeness” was the increasing prominence of Black people and particularly Black women in their fields and we’re seeing that coalition rewarded with the targeting of Black workers.
Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

The same argument could be made about the claim that sneezing does not cause autism.

Ofc, it's not just technology. Every major ed reform push of this century has been justified by unsupported claims that underserved children will benefit. See also: "school choice," vouchers and ESAs, the excessive standardized testing and school closures of NCLB, the misguided teacher eval of RTTT.

Marimar Martinez is a US citizen who was shot by ICE five times in Chicago.

She was then arrested, labelled a “domestic terrorist” and slandered on social media.

All charges against her have been dropped.

In this interview she shows on of the seven holes the ICE agent put in her body.

She talks about how she was just trying to warn her neighbours that ICE was in the area.

She says she’s a survivor.

This is courage.

It’s also a reminder that DHS will lie to protect its thugs.

Kash Patel still hasn’t removed a tweet that blames Martinez for getting shot.

Yup. My late father was an excellent father. Spouse is an excellent father. Lots of male friends and colleagues also don't buy into the gendered bs and are great partners and fathers.
