Important 🧵. I want to make a couple of points. 1) SOCOM should be dismantled because it doesn't understand it's job. Officially it's a global, not geographic, combatant command. Its job is to manage the global SOF enterprise, including be the joint proponent for most, but not all SOF functions. 1/
This is actually a relevant factor here: it's been pretty clear SOUTHCOM, whose commander resigned, has been pushing back, at least somewhat. They're putting it under the operational command of SOCOM specifically because that's the most already rotten place you'll find people happy to do crimes.

I would say the exact opposite occurred in DC. In a country where mass shootings occur daily and where the leading cause of death for children is gun related, a random shooting in the nation's capitol is 100% assimilation into the American way of life. America is a violent country. Period.
