Also, I get ... You know, I don't get. People don't get disability because they are SO HORRIFIED by our lives that as soon as someone near you is disabled you just lock it out of your brain.

Ableism is lazy and obscene and stop approving these garbage articles. We have enough fucking problems.

A thread of how to say “nobody asked you” from around the world, starting with this one…

A Lithuanian way of telling someone to mind their own business is ne tavo kiaulės, ne tavo pupos. It means “not your pigs, not your beans.”

Dem pols keep posting their statements in images, using hard-to-read white text against a pale teal background … without alt text.

@democrats.org do you actually support accessibility? Then DO BETTER!

Add alt text to your image posts, please! So easy to do.

random trust thermocline thought

so many misc businesses breaking their customers’ trust by shoving AI in their faces … and sinking through the trust thermocline

You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.

I didn't get an answer, so let's crowdsource

How do you effectively make the world accessible to people with disabilities while making sure people who don't need it don't take advantage but without denying access to people who need it?

i think the answer is "stop being a cop about it."
so how do you solve the problem without denying access to people who need it?

that any consideration for people in need must accommodate the whims, abstract fears and outright bigotries of the comfortable

How not to make cinnamon rolls

20 mins over my 2 min max standing and before I can lie down my whole body has the fastest acute crash in a couple years

But the delicious fresh rolls make it so worth it

When I lived in NYC we’d stay up late and go watch the balloons being inflated. Was always fun trying to guess what some puddle of colors would end up being. Went to actually watch the parade only once.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.
