The thing about Oakland is that I’m an adult transplant and this city kicks ass and I don’t want to live anywhere else.
So maybe, but not definitely, this is right as to the specific goal of flipping one unlikely seat.
But if Dems raised the salience to their immediate detriment, then it’s a better indicator that the GOP is turbofucked. Making this more like a general, and obliterating them, is a good sign for Dems.

America is extraordinarily radical in that there are tons of different ethnic groups here, and we not only generally get along with each other, but the law treats us all equal equally, and we all do the same shit like eat fried butter.

Imagine local control in CA unburdened by Prop 13 so counties and cities could actually fund their services without having to put sales or parcel taxes on the ballot every year to stay above water. Then we could see cities actually experiment with policies
